Got to make a decision vbac or c section 36 weeks

Times ticking and I've got to make a decision by 36 weeks. I don't know what to do at all. First baby emergency c section waters broke didn't dilate baby in distress. Can anyone relate to my first birth and how was your second?

I'm 37+2 and just decided today to go for VBAC. Hardest decision I've ever made but I think if you discuss the fact you're struggling with the consultant they can reassure you and come up with a plan. With mine she said if I really felt I couldn't continue I can change my mind and ask for a section at any time. I'll have an epidural in before the drip, and with a VBAC they usually use the balloon rather than the pessary to reduce risk of rupture so it's a gentler induction.

Honestly I loved my section and I can't believe I've decided not to go for another but the recovery was a bit much to be doing with another child in the house and I think it did impact on my ability to breastfeed too so I'm hoping the VBAC works out.

I had an emcs with first. Was 2 weeks over due date, was induced in hospital, started to labour that evening, but had failure to progress (and think it turned out he was back to back). After starting labour at about 8pm, had an epidural at about 11am, and was moved to a emcs just after lunch. Blood pressure dropped worryingly low after baby out, but all OK. Remember immense pain in shoulder -prob trapped air. Recovery was OK, but didn't want to have the recovery when have a toddler already. So had vbac for 2nd. That went fine - but he was on his due date, and labour was about 8 hours in total. They wouldn't believe he was coming when he was! Recovery was OK and left in the afternoon after the birth, just had some stitches, but the birth had no complications. I think the worry about blood pressure drop, and the shoulder pain both put me off a c section. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. For now I've opted for a VBAC.

For my DD I was in latent laboutfor days they then tried to induce me, I failed to progress so had an EMCS. Despite an excellent recovery I still felt like I'd been run over by a bus but as it was my first I just thought how I felt was normal. For DS I said I'd try for VBAC but had an ELCS booked for due date as I didn't want to be induced. DS came 3 weeks early and I didn't realise I was in labour for hours I just thought it was BH after having mild pains start in the afternoon I realised they were likely contractions at teatime and DS was born at 23:30 having arrived at the hospital 20 mins earlier. I had a tear and a few stitches and felt like my under carriage had been kicked by a horse for a few days but other than that felt marvellous and couldn't believe the difference. Hope your VBAC is as positive an experience as mine.

I had emcs for my first and elected for a cs for my second after being really bullied into having a Vbac and a consultant attempting to break my waters. I loved the cs and my recovery was quick. Only one night in hospital and 6 weeks of soreness. Do whatever you are happy with x

I had a wonderful home VBAC after an EMCS and was so glad I did it.

First birth I was fully dilated but didn't get any pushing contractions as my baby was in an odd position. Second birth was just a normal birth.
