Manual turn or C-section?

In hospital now, breech baby, no signs of labour but pre eclampsia so waiting for a decision to be made but likely birth will be sooner than later.

If you had the choice would you opt for manual turn and induction or scheduled c section and why?

I'm really torn, appreciate thoughts and experiences

(Incidentally my baby turned by herself in the end so I just had a vaginal birth anyway)

I'm really sorry it was that awful for you! Are you able to ask them to stop or do you have to carry on once you have started?

I had pre-eclampsia, a failed ecv and a c-section. I also had gestational diabetes, baby measuring big and was on antibiotics for months as my kidneys couldn't handle pregnancy. I can't remember if I had the pre-eclampsia diagnosis before the ecv but I think I did. Ecv was fine in that the doctor shifted her a tiny bit but she pinged straight back and he said he wouldn't try more. I have years later discovered I have a prominent midline septum (a ridge in my uterus) so I think my dd wouldn't have been able to get over the ridge. My c-section was great. No regrets.

I had a emergency section with DC1 and a ECV with dc3. The turning was awful but I'd probably go for that over a section as long as I had it done in theatre.

I honestly can't remember what they said. I guess I could've asked to stop but I was happy to go for it to avoid a C-section. but because he was footling breech (much rarer than bottom breech) the actual manipulation had to be more forceful than usual (they told me that) so yeah, it was by default worse than a "normal" ECV.

there's a time or repeat limit of trying before they call it a day though.

it's ok though, thank you.
it was 14.5 years ago so I only shudder when I think about it!🤣

Factoring in the PE I’d go for the elective section. ECVs are pretty brutal I’m told.

When is your EDD? Could you schedule the section and in the meantime give spinning babies a try and see if you can persuade little one to turn by himself?

Just to add that my doctor did lots of monitoring and made it clear that if at any stage I wanted to stop he would do. It was 5 years ago now.
