spina bifida occulta - the effects

Hi, I have spina bifida occulta ( 2 lower vertebrea missing) and am beginning to wonder how this will hinder normal labour and pain relief, if at all.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this. Thanks

i second Fio, you need to speak to your specialist ASAP, and find out if there is an obstetrician who also knows about this.

haven't got a specialist anymore as I've had no issues since I was a teenager (32 now), but I am going to see the OB consultant on Friday

If you haven't already found this link, it should help

I have spina bifida occulta as well but wasn't a problem for labour. You should ask for an anasthetic referral though to make sure they can site an epidural if you decide to have one.

A friend of mine with this has four children including twins born at home!
