Hospital Bag - What the hell do I need?

I've got 2 bags ready to pack, one for baby and one for me.

I've started on the baby's one. Put 15 nappies, some wipes, 3 shortsleeved baby gros and snowsuit (am due 2nd Jan so assuming it'll be cold)

What else do I need for baby bag? Also I know I need nighties, dressing gown and slippers for me, what else?

Cheers everyone

Although I've now split them down into: Labour bag/ Food & Drinks / Hospital bag (to stay in car until wheeled into ward) and Baby bag - so Hospital bagS really! am currently 38+5 so Labour bag is now taken wherever I go.

Sorry I wasn't very clear. I meant wrapping a blanket round her on top of the vest and babygro but instead of a snow suit.

I would have thought they'd let you out like that but don't quote me on it! lol

I definatley think iv'e packed too much clothing for baby (8 babygros/4 jumpers and a going home outfit) so may have to re-pack.

Anyways Iv'e got most of what other people have already suggested but I think a in a seperate "labour" bag and "hospital" bag could be useful...oh and iv'e packed a handheld fan!!!

I asked the same thing on the Pregnancy board. Here are a few things that MN recommended to me that I didn't think of:

-Water bottle spritzer thingy
-Arnica tablets (to start taking when labour starts, to reduce bruising and encourage healing)
-Distilled witchhazel for putting on maternity pads to sooth 'area'
-own pillow
-lucozade tablets
-Johnsons top to toe wash for you and baby
-2 nighties; one for giving birth, 1 front opening for immediatly after the birth so can breastfeed
-MP3 player containing hypnobirthing
-Cool bag containing nice chilled fresh food from M&S or whatever
-2 pre-sterilised bottles + readymade stage 1 formula (just incase, aparently, if you do have problems BFing, it can be impossible to get the midwifes to bring you bottles and formula and meanwhile you are stuck trying to calm a hungry newborn - not nice)

I am due 27th Dec and after various attempts at packing bag, I've ended up with 1 X hospital bag, 1 bag to be left in car(containing 1 X loungewear suit, 2 soft wide-legged loungewear trousers, 4 vests and additional baby stuff), 1 vanity case stuffed with maternity pads/sanitary disposal sacks/usual bathroom stuff. Good luck!

Don't want smelly shower gel - may sting your sensitive bits.
Travel fan to help cool you down in labour too.
I've written down what I've put into each bag as well, and will give lists to DH so he knows where to find things as I need them.
Plus it means I'm not unpacking/repacking because I can't remember if I put such-and-such in!
