Hi ladies
Currently being induced because of GD .. have had a 24h pessary which took my cervix from
Kind of open to flat but nothing more .. then had a gel
For 6 hours which did nothing ... then another gel and waiting to be seen but no pains nothing even though I've walked and walked and bounced ... starting to feel a bit deflated.. any positive stories after a failed pessary and gel ? What's even my next step? I don't want a c section unless emergency of course because of the after recovery xxx

Hey, the early part of an induction can take ages. Eventually, after a story much like yours, the mw was able to break my waters despite not being dilated.
I think I'd spent 3 days on the induction ward at that point. But the mw broke my waters at 9 am and baby arrived at 4.30 pm. No other interventions, just the drip the minute the waters were gone. In fact, it was very calm and lovely.

Here's hoping the same happens for you! Good luck. Flowers

Mine started like this too, the pessary didn’t do much at all. They were able to break my waters at 9am I think and put me on the drip. DC born at 9pm, delivery was fine. I was induced for GD at 38 weeks, I feel like the pessary only works by itself if you’re closer to have been going to go into labour naturally. Good luck!

Thank you for replying ladies . 4th baby and I was feeling positive as everyone kept telling me how your body does things quicker etc Hmm
But not the case here ! It’s so strange as when I lay down on my side I get pains that feel like something but the minute I stand / walk / bounce on a ball Nothing .

Awww good luck to you! Hope it kicks in.

I had a similar birth experience.
Had to be induced as got to 41weeks + with no signs of labour whatsoever.

My induction was unsuccessful. Never dilated past 3cm and on Day 4 (induced on a Sunday and had baby on Wednesday night) I had an emergency C section.
I had the biggest eye roll 🙄 seeing as I had been put through so much just to have a csection.

Fingers crossed for you 🙏x

After a while, they'll put you on a drip. That usually works 😊 I had 2 pessarys that did nothing. And then got put on the drip. I've seen people's inductions take up to a week or so though and ended up on the drip

I am 39 weeks . Baby is meant to be a biggen . Not confirmed GD as all my testing has been fine etc but they are treating me as such because of size alone :/ .... have had 2 pessarys and 2 gels and sweeps etc nothing yet . Cervix is thin with no length apparantly but far back ... I thought your body was meant to do this quicker the more kids you have ? The lady next to me is on number one and went into labour within 5 h of the first pessary and just saw her with her baby ! Getting very deflated .. here’s hoping today is the day

TBF the point of the pessary/gels, is just to get you dilated enough to pop your waters. If it sends someone into labour, that's a happy bonus. Once your waters are gone (which is far more likely to trigger labour), the next step will be the drip. And that usually does the trick.

Only had the one baby, but if it helps I had the gels (my trust didn't do 24h pessary/balloon at the time), and they did sod all. Waters being popped had the same result, so had the drip. Had a regular vaginal birth at the end of it all.

Good luck @fizzyblush! Hopefully today will be the day!

Hope you get to meet your baby today! I remember being brought in for induction and there were 5 women being started off at the same time, all of whom had delivered their babies before they could even manage to break my waters Sad. Hang in there Flowers

Oh good luck.

Update :
After a failed pessary x2 and gelx2 they managed to break my waters as even though I didn't react to any of the interventions I did become 'favourable '
Waters broke - still nothing but contractions that were not progressive so I got the drip and within an hour of getting the drip she was in my arms ... so intense but so worth it . Thanks cos the advice ladies

Congratulations. If you became favourable and they did manage to break your waters then the pessaries and gel did their job!

Congrats
