Anyone had the hormone drip AFTER birth to stop a PPH

Hello!

Due my baby in 2 weeks (second) via Csection but with my first baby I had a massive PPH during my Csection. So I've been told this time I will be given a 4 hour drip as soon as baby is out to control bleeding.

Has anyone had the hormone drip in a birth after suffering a PPH beforehand? And if so did it work for you? X

I had this after birth of dc5

Never had PPH but our hospital do it as prevention after dc4

It was fine just annoying being stuck in bed not able to shower etc

Yes, I'd had a placental abruption so had the drip to make sure my uterus shrank back down. It did mean i had after pains quite badly but it worked

Yep I had it but I still had the epidural (EMCS) so barely felt the contractions

Yes it was fine but my EMCS was because of failed induction so I'd previously felt the full force of the hormone drip with no pain relief!

Glad to be reading this!
I had a bad Pph last birth and have been told ill have the drip this time and wasn't sure how much of a difference it makes! Glad to see it seems to work though as I'm terrified of it happening again!

It usually works a treat! If you’ve had a previous PPH they’ll be preemptively treating you and watching you like a hawk this time
