VBAC POSSIBLE?

I had an emergency c section due to waters breaking 24 hours later not dilating further than 1cm and the baby was in distress.
They've asked if I want a vbac and I don't know what to do. I don't know what the chances are if I didn't dilate past 1cm.

When I was expecting my second, I had an appointment with the consultant to discuss if I wanted a VBAC after emcs. I was in a different situation to you because I didn't get to go into labour due to severe preeclampsia, but I would ask for an appointment with a consultant to discuss it further and what the likelihood of a successful VBAC is. Hopefully that will help you decide what you want to do.

My first labour was almost exactly like yours. 48 hours between waters going and actual labour, then got stuck at 8.5cm ending up in emcs. My son was back to back and head tilted to the side.

My second was VBAC. Started contractions around 3.30am, laboured at home with hypnobirthing until 7pm, in the birth pool at 8pm and she was born at 11.53pm. Didn't need stitches or anything, I felt amazing afterward. Only had gas and air. Its absolutely possible, you should have a consultant appointment in your third trimester and they'll talk you through your individual options. I was offered another section but the recovery was far more difficult than the VBAC.

I have not verified this statistic but I have read (on here I think) that if you had an EMCS last time because your labour didn't progress, you've got about a 60% chance of an attempted VBAC working out. I think the average for attempted VBACs is 75% but I'm not sure if that figure takes out the 'didn't progress last time' people or includes them. Probably best to check my figures, but I believe those are the odds - so I guess it depends on how much you want a VBAC Vs how much you don't want an emergency section Vs how much better an elective section might be for you!
