PPH with first child, will it happen again?

I’m currently pregnant with my second child, due on 22 of June. My son will turn 3 in May- I had an induction with him at 41w+4d, they broke my waters first and then put me on oxytocin. Everything was going well, labour lasted about 8hrs and straight after he was born I had a haemorrhage, lost 2.5l of blood. They had to rush my off to surgery but luckily I didn’t need a blood transfusion, was in hospital for 2 more days after labour. It was very scary at the time and my husband was terrified I wouldn’t make it so I’m really worried that this will happen to me again and was wondering what experiences some of you had, did you have a pph the second time round as well? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!Smile

I had a pph with my second, the midwife has said that they will put a drip in my hand as soon as I go into the hospital this time to administer whatever it is they need to so they can limit the chance of it happening

I had a pph with DC1 and had 3 more deliveries without having another one. But they wouldn’t let me in a shower or birthing pool for any of the subsequent deliveries as blood loss is very hard to quantify in water. As soon as I was taken to the delivery room (every time) I had to have a cannula put in so that it was quick and easy to administer drugs and bloods if required. They also had some of my blood type brought up so it was nearby if needed. Thankfully it never happened again.
My DH still remembers getting handed DC1 wrapped in towels and told sit there and don’t move, “the baby is fine”, as 4 additional medical staff suddenly appeared in the room to sort me out. We didn’t realise till the next day the extent of what had happened and how serious it was.
Fingers crossed yours was a one off too.
