Mucus with C-section baby

My LO is just over 2.5 weeks and he still sounds very wheezy, I had an emergency c-section and had to stay an additional 3 days at the hospital after birth, he has been mucusy from day, but now it’s quite jarring, cannot lay him flat on a cot he only sleeps upright on our chest or when being held with his head slightly elevated - this is problematic enough with the sleep deprivation, he is breastfed as well, and barely sleeps during the day, when he does sleep 2 hours in he starts to gag and choke but no mucus on show... he did a spit up yesterday and it was slightly thick and mucusy but when I informed the midwife she said it should have all cleared by now? I’m getting increasingly worried, GP has advised to use Saline drops which I am using but I am worried that he has a breathing issue? Hence cannot sleep on his back... I don’t know if he’s got silent reflux either because he’s constantly wanting a feed but does spit up quite often... extremely worried and anxious as a first time mum... during lockdown help and support from community health visitor is next to none and midwife was quite dismissive and said if I’m worried to take him to A&E... any advice?

I will start by saying all babies are different and their first few weeks there getting used to their bodies and learning to do things like digest. It sounds stressful but I'm sure your doing great. You should listen to your instincts and if you think something is wrong then follow it up.

Has anyone actually seen the baby since being born? I would say wheezing is not really normal and if you are concerned about it i would be insisting on seeing somone be that a GP or someone at the hospital. As it's a weekday mabey try the gps in the morning and say you have serious concerns about the babies wheezing and if you cant get a face to face appointment your taking the baby to a and e.
One last question and I'm not trying to scare you just want to highlight how my babies infection was picked up when he was a new born.
What colour is the spit up? Is it or has it ever been yellow? If it is then it may be bile and you need to take the baby to a and e.
