What's everyone's thoughts on this?
Do you think the restrictions at the hospitals will have been lifted at this point as well?

I have an ECS booked for the 12th of July with my second and am hoping at least partners might be able to stay.

I don’t think they’ll be lifted immediately as hospitals will (sensibly) be much more cautious than Boris

I suspect hospitals will be more cautious. It will all depends on the individual hospitals. My local hospital has all private room so partners are allowed to stay now.

Honestly it's better if they don't stay! My ex just got in the way and I was so relieved when he was sent home. Also, if partners can stay then it's quite stressful having strange men around with the other women's partners there also. The midwives and maternity nurses are so good, you'll be in better hands with them anyway.

All to their own I guess. My husband was incredibly helpful after having a cesarean last time and I know I wouldn't have coped mentally or physically without him being there.

I'm sure the midwives are doing a great job especially now, but there is only so much they can do and can only be in one place at a time.

Meanwhile my husband was able to do everything I/baby needed straight away without having to wait for someone after ringing a buzzer.

I too think that hospitals will take longer to release their restrictions than the everywhere else. But I personally don't think it makes any sense. I spend every waking minute with my husband and sleep in the same bed as him. So for him to stay in the hospital at the same time as me doesn't make increases the COVID risk. If he has it then I have it too.

@saffire

I also can't say that I was in any way bothered by other men being there. There are curtains in between the beds and they are there to support their partners.

Shame you had a bad experience with your ex, but that's probably why he's an ex as well.

I didn’t realise partners were allowed to stay after CS’s in some hospitals anyway, they aren’t in ours. I would have hated having other men staying on the ward.
I think hospitals will continue to be cautious, but it will entirely depend on the Covid situation at the time. You might get lucky.
