Bartholins Cyst

Has anyone ever had a Bartholins cyst? From 2007 - 2019 I suffered repeatedly with them. I had literally countless operations. Some were to drain, I had it marsupialised 4 times. I supposedly had the actual gland removed 3 times, too! I've not had any problems since 2019 (touch wood). During previous surgeries and recoveries, I had been told that should I have children, a natural delivery may not be possible due to the scarring and tissue damage from my 15 + surgeries all in the same place.

I was told I couldn't have children (unrelated) so I never gave it much thought. But I'm just about to turn 32 weeks pregnant and due to gestational diabetes, my size and being a first time mum - I'm aware that I will more than likely be induced at 38 weeks and it will more than likely end up being an instrumental or cesarean delivery.

In an ideal world I would have preferred a natural delivery. However. I spent 2 years training to be a midwife and have seen plenty of women in labour and delivery. I know from my experience that there is every chance I'll be induced, have days of to-ing and fro-ing with contractions, probably end up with an epidural and probably end up in theatre exhausted and unable to deliver.

I have an appointment with a consultant next week and I'm going to talk through the possibilities of having an elective c section. It's not ideal but I worry that my extensive scarring and tissue is going to make a natural delivery near on impossible. Personally I would rather not go through 1 - 3 days of that physical pain and exhaustion, only to be whisked off for a c section because it's all failed.

Has anyone else had trouble with Bartholins cyst and did it affect your delivery? Or even anyone who has also had extensive vaginal surgery - did it impact your childbirth?

I haven't had a Bartholins cyst but my first birth was a failed induction leading to csection 48hrs later, and my second was a planned section. I would go for the planned section.

I have had laser surgery and couldn't dilate due to the scar tissue, this was a pain and I was messed about with so much after my waters broke that we had to stay in hospital for 2 weeks as my son was ill! I am planning on another child and will defo be having a c section due to how the last birth went, I'd recommend having a c section as your child may get an infection like mine did x
