Induction by waters breaking 2nd baby

Just wondering if anyone has experience of this.

I'm due tomorrow but went into be monitored tonight as babies movements had reduced. Everything was great on the trace and midwife has managed to do a sweep but did say that cervix was still quite far back but babies head was low.

I've been offered an induction by breaking my waters and going to get a call about this in the morning which will be 40 weeks exactly. But, I'm now unsure whether to have this or whether I'm best waiting a couple more days and seeing if he comes in his own.

The waters breaking doesn't worry me but what does is that if nothing has happened in four hours I'll be transferred to delivery suite and end up in the hormone drip.

Does anyone else have experience of this. Gut feeling is to at least put the induction back by a couple of days.

Hi,
I just came across your thread as I had experience with this.
Had to be induce with my 3rd due to high BP and SPD which I couldn't wait as I was in so much pain.
On the day of induction,I was taken to the room to put the pessary in bit midwife checked and said cervix is dilated although only 1 cm but she said we could try just breaking waters ( I assume my cervix was also quite short and probability of impending labour was high).
They took me to Labour Ward at 7pm and broke my waters and hooked to the monitor for 30 min.I was fine,no contractions so decided to go to the toilet.I also send my family away as Ithought it will take ages with no pains etc.
BUT,after visitng toilet and on my way back(long corridor,7 rooms mine was last) I was in quite a lot of pain.It really kicked in,I was walking around, puffing and a bit shocked but was despearte to have the baby. The shift changed, the new midwife and a student came around 8.45,then the doctor expalining something but it was so hazy I can't even remember what he was talking aboutGrin.I think I was in transition when midwife (quite abruptly gave me a G&A but it was really horrible, made me dizzy and horrible. At some point I felt that I will feel better on bouncy ball but I felt this overwhelming urge and knew my baby wants to come out.
During those few hours I didn't want to go on the bed (maybe an instinct?) but when I said I need to push, the midwife scolded me and said 'I don't think so,it's to early').Since she came to my room she was just reading my medical notes with her back turned and apart from giving me G&S there was no interaction.
I couldn't stop the feeling of pushing so stood up and grabbed some equipment to stand up and after 2 pushes my baby was born.It was 9pm so it was very quick and even now, after so may years, I'm still a bit shocked.
Sorry for a saga but to answer your question, yes sometimes braking your waters is all that is needed.BTW,I was induced at 37+5.

Yes me!
I've had this twice. My 3rd was induced at 42wks by waters breaking. Contractions started immediately and she was born 2hrs later. Really positive active birth. My bishops score was great with her if I recall.
My 4th was induced at 40wks due to size. In this case they broke my waters and nothing happened so wanted to put me on a drip. I opted to have an epidural before the drip was started. It took about 3hrs for the drip to get my contractions going to 4in 10mins. Baby was born 4hrs later. Whilst I didn't have pain I could feel him moving down without doing anything. When they finally checked me he was one push away from being born.

Again really positive, not as active as my second but still fine.

A factor for me is that out of 4 babies, 2 were induced at 42wks and one came spontaneously at 40+9 So I carry longer it seems and despite being huge at 40wks DC4 or my body wasn't as ready. Ultimately My second and third inductions were way easier than my first, I guess because my body had done it before.

Good luck today x
