Baby turning before c section

I am due to have a planned c section for breech baby. At the last scan 3 weeks ago (36 weeks), the baby was still breech but but bump feels different and I’m wondering if he’s turned (now 39 weeks).

Does anyone have any experience of baby turning late in the day? I’m mentally prepared for the c section now and although I have thought it through, I don’t know how I will feel if I go in for the c section only to be told I can’t have it and to go home and wait.

For personal reasons I would prefer a c section (sister had a horrendous labour followed by emergency section which is my worst nightmare) but I will take the doctors advice if I baby has indeed turned.

I’d be really interested to hear other people’s experiences, feeling a bit nervous about the uncertainty. Thanks

My baby was breech a little earlier and then turned. Then she turned again and was unexpectedly transverse, which was discovered at 8cm!

If you would rather a c-section then I'd say go for it, though they may kick up a real fuss at your current gestation.

I had a 33 hour labour, followed by a hideous cat 1 emergency section and at the time, I didn't have the time to be scared it was just adrenaline and go.

My baby was breech and the consultant told me they'd scan me just before the c section to make sure she was still breech. In my case, my consultant was happy for me to choose an elective c-section regardless of whether baby turned, but I know from other Mumsnet posts that it varies by consultant.

It is quite possible for the baby to change the possition as your due date is approaching, some are even turnig at the start of the labour.
If you have scheduled CS I am pretty sure they will palpate or do the scan before the procedure and definitely ask you what is your choice of birth. From the medical point of view natural labour and delivery is more beneficial for the mother and baby and less invasive, not to mention that recovery time is is much shorter and less risk of infection etc. However,in the end of the day medical professionals are quite aware that it is your choice and will/should respect that fact.
Good luck
