Pelvic floor

Hi! I am 4 weeks postpartum and I feel like I need some advice about my pelvic floor. It still feels so so heavy - like something is pushing down from inside. Is that normal?! I had a forceps delivery and I'm worried I have some sort of prolapse. I can wee and hold my bladder well but I have a lot of pressure in my bum. I can feel myself pooping and control it but it just feels like it's so heavy. My coccyx and bum cheeks are also so painful and I can't walk far. Any help appreciated!

Yes this is very normal to feel like this, i hated the feeling of weight pushing down, I also had forceps delivery and episiotomy and I have to say that feeling did go on for some time. I had my first baby 2 years ago and still have a small prolapse at the entrance of my vagina. Mine is a rectocele prolapse, this link explains it very well... www.beaconhealthsystem.org/library/diseases-and-conditions/posterior-vaginal-prolapse-rectocele/ I went to my doctors about it about 15 months ago and they referred me to the gynae ward and I saw a consultant about it who referred me to a physio who I saw a few times for exercises. I have done many exercises and it hasn’t really made much of a difference over the 2 years for me unfortunately, they can do an operation to pop the prolapse back in place but don’t recommend it unless you aren’t having any more children, in my case I am, I’m now pregnant with my second and due in September but I do worry it will make my prolapse worse. I have my first midwife appt in a few weeks so will speak to them then about it. In the first 6 months after having my first baby I felt I kept slightly peeing myself so would wear pads but thankfully that stopped. I do still however feel pressure occasionally down near my scar and I feel
It has changed my bowel movements, I never use to poop in the mornings and always do now (sorry for tmi) I’m not in any pain with my prolapse but just find it a pain really so just hoping it doesn’t get worse with my second baby and that it can be sorted after my second baby is born. They can also offer Pessaries to help ease the prolapse back to where it should be.

@Pumpkinangel congratulations on your pregnancy! are you planning to have another vaginal birth this time? Do you still get any symptoms from the prolapse or just the change in bowel movements?

Pumpkinangel · 23/01/2021 11:22

@AnxiousFTM thank you :) I’m not too sure about the vaginla birth I do feel a littler nervous about it tbh as my first delivery was a little traumatic, I have my midwife appt next week thought so I will speak to her about it and see if I will be ok or what options there are. I don’t really have any other symptoms from the prolapse now, I think I just got use to the pressing down feeling down there. It doesn’t cause me any pain or anything, I think my worry is just that it may get worse second time round.

@kidsareok I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if this feeling ever stopped? Or if you were diagnosed with a prolapse? I’m 4 weeks post forceps delivery and feeling the same
