Tena pants

Tena pants for post birth... do I need to get particular ones?

I used pads last time and my bleeding was heavy so MW got me to double up on two of the really chunky ones- so uncomfy. I’m thinking I’d be comfier in Tena pants initially then hoping to wear my ModiBodi’s once bleeding has slowed down a bit / I don’t need to monitor blood loss.

Any experience? Thanks all.

Tena is for pee so I wouldn't get them for heavy bleeding. Buy the proper maternity pads that deal with your waters breaking and the heavy bleeding after. Much more suitable in my book 👍🏻
However the tena before you give birth is also a must! 🤣

I saw an instagram post recently from a midwife saying tena are totally inappropriate after birth.
I recommend Cottons (an actual brand called Cottons) maternity pads. Comfortable and actually have wings so really stay put too.

So many people rave about how much comfier Tena pants are... anyone?

I think the always pants would probably be better.

I got a cheaper version of the Tena Pants and they were an absolute godsend after birth! Do it OP, they're so comfy and handle heavy bleeding really well. I used them a for a few days after and they're so padded too that it eases the pain of sitting down haha

Tena are for urine not blood. They don't absorb it properly which can cause infection, particularly if you have stitches.

I use boots disposable pants with their thick maternity pads, it's very convenient, just pop the lot in the bin.

I used tena lady pants for the first few days just while the bleeding was heaviest. It just made me feel more "covered" and like I wouldn't leak even if I was lying down or in a funny position. They feel weird, like wearing a huge nappy, but I found them really comfy and they worked fine. After a few days when the bleeding settled down a bit then normal maternity pads did the job.

Hope it all goes smoothly OP. I was told not to use them as they draw moisture away from your skin, and so not helpful for healing skin/stitches, whereas the maternity pads do not have the same effect and so are more gentle. Best wishes!

I used boots maternity pads and they were great. Very absorbent. Big granny knickers work best with them, black ones so the blood doesn’t show.

I just found the super thick maternity pads so uncomfy last time and at night time I was really worried about leaking- I bled a lot. Just thought they’d be comfier.

They're not the comfiest, but they're the best for absorbing blood. I used the boots ones, which had a bit of "curve" to them so they didn't feel like mattresses in my pants!

I used them to start with and found them very comfy and reassuring to know there'd be no leaks. I only had a couple of small stitches though so don't know how it would have been if I'd had more/ a section. Then moved on to wear em out reusable maternity pads which were also very comfy.
