36 weeks and stressed out...

Hi all,
I'm just looking for a bit of advice really and perhaps if people have been in a similar situation can you ease my mind a bit...
Currently 36 + 1 weeks and have been an absolute wreck with everything seeming to be going wrong but no indication as to what consultants are going to do about anything.
Firstly got diagnosed with GD Christmas eve, which is fine and not that unexpected as it has offered an explanation as to why this baby is currently measuring over 8lb as of a couple days ago. Currently diet controlled and seem to be coping ok. (Even with an intense fear of needles!)
Secondly ended up in hospital being monitored for tightenings which ended up becoming regular and more like contractions, was a waiting game and I was given steroids for babies lungs just incase it was early labour. (35weeks at this point). Since then they happen every night from 10pm-1PM, sometimes painful sometimes not. Obviously it cant be actual labour or else I'd have had him by now... or could it just be gradual and things are beginning to happen slowly? Dr basically discharged me and said to wait and see (which is great as I'd rather be at home).
Had an appointment for growth 2 days ago (measuring 8lb - I know these arent completrly accurate but my growth scans with my first DS were pretty spot on and he was 9lb induced at 39weeks, no GD with him). My worry is this little one will be even bigger and I really really want to avoid going past 38 weeks without any indication as to what they can do for me. (I have another growth scan and consultant appointment then).
I've also found out the other day that the little guy has managed to turn around and ended up breech in the last week (after being head down and partially engaged since around 30weeks).
I've phoned my community midwife who was horrified that the consultants havent given me any options, but is she in a position to help me or am I going to have to maybe bite the bullet and demand some answers from the hospital directly? I dont want to come across as a nagging pregnany lady but I'm just so flustered and panicked that I'm approaching the date that they should be doing something about all this with no answers and I'm still in the dark).

Sorry if this is a long post just wanted to try and include the major points so I can give a clear picture.

I'm aware that induction isnt everyones favourite choice but ì didnt have the worst experience with my first and am aware of the complications etc that may pop up. And the midwife has quickly chatted with me about CS if baby is still breech.

Sorry for the rambling, but if anybody can offer any advice as to what I can rightfully request etc that would be fab!

Thank you in advance Smile

Hi,

Firstly sorry to hear you aren't feeling great about things.

I don't have any experience of GD but had concerns over reduced movement with my daughter which meant several trips and scans etc, because this was ongoing I was basically given the option to be induced and the decision was mine. I am suprised this hasn't been mentioned? I would get back in touch and just make it clear that, that induction would be your preference. I must say though if I had my time again I would of held on and hoped for no more reduced movement, induction was delayed 2 days so we spent 3 days in hospital before birth then things didn't run particularly smoothly after they broke my waters!

Don't take the scan size predictions as gospel they said my baby was going to be big and she was 6lb 7.5oz

Good luck, enioy your bump for a while longer!

Really sorry to hear you're going through this. I would call the hospital and explain why you need to see a consultant urgently. You're not being a nagging pregnant lady - you're very reasonably concerned and it sounds like you've slipped through the cracks a bit. If you don't get anywhere by calling the hospital, maybe your midwife could contact them on your behalf?

I'm 36 weeks and baby was breech at my last scan - the consultant said to come in as soon as contractions started rather than waiting for the standard amount of time between contractions.

If you're tracking your sugars through the app, you can request a call from the diabetic midwife through the app - they may be able to help as well.
