This will be my second but the first was a surprise.

For medical reasons I need one this time too and I'm just so scared

Send me Positive vibes

It’s definitely the safest route! I’ve only had one but would choose another over vaginal any day! What are you scared of in particular?

Yummymummy2020 · 06/01/2021 05:36

I was offered one for health reasons and I’m a bit afraid as my first was a vaginal birth and pretty traumatic. What was your recovery like do you mind me asking!

Chanel05 · 06/01/2021 05:45

I had an emergency c-section and recovery is easier if you really sit and rest for a good two weeks. My midwife told me that I should only lift my dd or a cup of tea, nothing more, nothing heavier.

@Suzi888 my bmi is raised so just the thought of surgery and having a 1 year old at home 🤪 thank you for the reply.

@Yummymummy2020 I got a infection but as @Chanel05 says. I was so so silly and didn't rest enough. Went into town 2 days after to get baby registered for some wonderful reason.

I'll definitely be taking that device this time and making the most of hubby being home

Take it from me, somebody who was so so scared of having a c section, but had one after traumatic birth previously! The staff were lovely, reassuring and made me feel safe! There will be so many people in that room with you, all doing there own job to make sure it runs smoothly. The worst bit for me was the spinal, but I was holding a staff members hand, and they were so nice and reassuring!
Once I lay down my bloody pressure dropped, which made me panic, but it was sorted out very quickly. The screen was then up and I didn't know it had started! There's a strange sensation of somebody bouncing on your stomach, it doesn't hurt at all, just a strange sensation. Then within seconds of all that your baby will be here! The rest goes so fast as they check baby over, stitch you up, and seas sat holding baby, you can hold baby yourself, but I wanted to wait until recovery..... Within minutes your back in recovery! I would choose a c section next time 100 percent. The recovery wasn't at all bad, I was walking round the ward sorting baby the following morning. The drive home for me was the worst, getting in the passenger seat of a car was sore, and the bumps in the road, even with dh taking it very easy... Ouch!! But it's to be expected really.
Each day gets easier! I look back and feel happy with my second experience, it really helped me get over the traumatic birth of my first! Good luck op!!

Sorry just seen it's your second section! You must know all that!! An elective is much more calm! I've heard recovery is easier! Smile

Marlena1 · 06/01/2021 08:19

I had a planned one first. It was a lovely experience. I wanted to try the other way second time but honestly I thought the section was so nice and calm, best experience of my life (and I am very squemish). Just take every bit of help after.

allhappeningatonce · 06/01/2021 10:55

I'm just recovering here from a semi planned section (they decided that morning not to give me an induction) and it's ok. Ran really smooth cos it wasn't an emergency. I was dreading a section my whole pregnancy and whilst my tummy muscles hurt it's all been ok. You'll be fine 🤗🤗🤗

LiG123 · 06/01/2021 11:03

@Nicecupofcoco thank you. That makes it sound a whole lot better. I have planned for the journey home to have a pillow between the belt and the scar so that's one less panic!

You’ll be ok OP, just pad that belly! Good luck with the birth Smile

I had ELCS 3 weeks ago after an EMCS in 2018. Honestly the elective was a completely different experience. I was very nervous too, but the staff were so friendly and reassuring. The anticipation of it is scary, but I really hope it all goes well for you.

An elective section is SO calm, I had the most amazing experience. Someone popped their head round the door near the end and told the anaesthetist there was a cuppa waiting for them Grin I was just laid there thinking... sorry what Grin

ellenhemus · 06/01/2022 15:20

I had an emergency section first time round as my waters broke naturally, baby was breech and baby needed to be delivered within 24 hours incase of infection. Not going to lie the pain was horrendous, I went home the following day however as much as I did rest I also found that keeping active (getting up, walking about, sitting upright rather than lying down) made me feel better and think it made my recovery quicker.

Due my second first week in feb and opted for elective section (although I really didn't want another due to the pain) this baby is also breech and measuring small so they didn't want to try an ECV as would cause stress to the baby.

It will be so unbelievably FINE!! I had built myself up to the point I just thought I’m dying, whenever the nurse pokes her head round the curtain to say it’s time to go then that’s it, it’s time for me to die. I had listened to podcasts, read books, done an online course, had audio tracks downloaded that were going to keep me calm. When it came to it I couldn’t care less about any of that stuff and went without it all. They said they’d have him out in 5 minutes from the start of the operation.. he was out in ONE MINUTE! The whole thing was so calm and painless! As they wheeled me round to recovery with my baby I just couldn’t believe that that was it! They’d just given me a baby and all I did was lie there. Like most people I hate when c-sections are portrayed to be the ‘easy option’ and I hid the fact I was having one from most people because I didn’t want to have to judge myself or be given advice on it.

It was the best experience ever, just imagine your baby’s little face during the first part then as soon as you hear them cry it will be amazing! Good luck, hope it’s as lovely as mine 😊
