So I’m 37 weeks and got sent for a growth scan yesterday due to reduced fundal height (inaccurate I know) but came out being told that baby is measuring big (same weight as my first at full term) and they saw an area of echogenic bowel. Have had to have glucose bloods and viral bloods but been left at a bit of a loss as to whether I should push for an early induction as the consultant kept saying that I could be on track for a 4.5kg baby if I go full term and listed all the issues a big baby could cause but didn’t really give me any other info except for a leaflet for a ‘big baby research project’ which I’ll be eligible for if my bloods come back clear and would mean I would be induced at 38 weeks. My first birth was really straightforward waters broke at 11am, baby arrived at 3.4kg at 1pm a few I was home by 6.30pm so not sure which was to go with it. Has anyone got experience of being induced early for a big baby second time round?

Scans can also be inaccurate, my friend had a scan at 37 and got told baby was already over 8lb and would be over 9lb by birth, she was born at 40+5 at 7lb5 Hmm

If it was me in your position I would wait it out to try and avoid being induced, its very tempting when youre so close to the end and would love for them to come sooner, but the earlier the induction the more likely it is to need interventions

I wouldn't be wanting an induction if I could avoid one tbh. 4.5kg isn't that big? Dd was almost that and it didn't cause any issues.
