When did you drive after c section?

My insurance says under GP advice. Clearly not everyone who has a c section is going to get sigh off from their GP especially right now. What are people doing?

Mine were both pre-Covid. Dc1, I couldnt see a gp until the 8week immunisations. Rang insurance at 6 weeks and they said I was fine to drive as soon as I felt able to. Dc2 started driving at 5 weeks so I could do the nursery run.
Both times, I went out for a short drive by myself first to check I was ok without the worry of driving the baby for the first time!

After about two weeks. I felt fine and checked with the insurance who were okay with this. I was lucky I had a planned section and straightforward recovery.

10 days. My baby was in NICU so I had to get there. Insurance said as soon as I felt able.

5 weeks DD1 as recovery was rough, 13 days DD2

10 days I think. GP saw me briefly to check the scar, said it was fine but to check with insurance, which was also fine.

Just over 2 weeks, I felt fine to drive and my insurance didn't require gp sigh off, just had to "feel able". If your insurance does need a gp approval you might need to wait for your 6 week check (assuming they still go ahead).

Day 11. I'd checked I could move the car on the drive and do an emergency stop at day 6 but my insurers wanted GP sign off and it took a few days to get an appointment.

Like the poster above, I had a baby in nicu (and a non-driving husband) so I had an incentive. As cab drivers were seeming to find every speed bump in the hospital, driving myself was a lot more comfortable.

^In the borough not in the hospital.

6 weeks the first time and I didn’t feel comfortable still

2 weeks the second time and it felt fine

Same, needed to get to the NICU.

Checked I was able to do an emergency stop then good to go

1st emcs, months, I was absolutely fucked, mentally and physically. 2nd, 2 weeks, I was in an abusive relationship and he said I had to be out of the house with the kids so I got out of the house with the kids. My I insurance said when medically alowed and my midwife wrote in my notes that I could now drive.
