Hi all. 2.5 weeks after elective c section. I have an apron stomach so the site is hard to keep dry but I think it is doing ok. There is a very very small amount of residue on a pad which I have over my wound to help stop it becoming sweaty. It isn't hot or really red and I have no temp and no pain. I am just wondering about the white bit on the wound and if this is normal. Could it be yeast and if so what would I put on it?

Please ignore the red around the wound as this is my skin reacting with the glue on the dressing which I am a little allergic too. Thanks.

I'm not a wound expert on slightest (hopefully you'll get a nurse or doctor reply) so only going by my csections, both of which took a long time to heal. The white just looks like normal skin healing unless its wetter than it appears. It does look a bit red and sore but I would be taking it as ok at this point. Keep an eye on it, let air to it as much as possible and make sure its dried well after washing (but not with a hairdryer, people often recommend that but the filter is not the cleanest thing to be blowing over a wound). If it gets more inflamed or sore throat then get it checked.

I think that looks infected, I would get it checked via GP/111. You could also ask your midwife to swab it and send the results to the GP. Even if you've been discharged by the midwife they can still see you again until baby is 28 days.

That looks infected to me I would see a dr ASAP

Looks like pus

That looks like pus to me too, it shouldn’t be there, I’d get it checked.

It’s just a wee bit sloughy and it probably needs a wee dressing to lift that off and allow granulation tissue to form so I’d make an appointment with the practice nurse at your gp ☺️

What KEG05 said. I'm a practice nurse and see quite a few of these.

Hello. Nurse here and 3 time C section mummy too. You need to have the yellowy area swabbed and probably need some antibiotics. Ring your GP or practice nurse.
Keep clean and dry.
My last wound got infected and healed ok and yours is very likely to heal too.

Hi, nurse here. What someone upthread said too.. it looks sloughy to me, that will need a special type of dressing to remove it and allow new tissue to form. I would get it looked at - ask your midwife to visit you for a wound review.

Thanks all. Will give GP a call in the morning. It isn't really wet to touch but a little tacky at times as hard to keep it completely dry but good advice to get it checked.

I had a c section 10 yrs ago and think it took a while but honestly can't really remember. (I also need to google slough 😊)

Gp agreed it looked a little sloughy and have antibiotics as precaution and an antibiotic cream too. Thanks all x
