Arnica and caesarean

I took arnica with my other babies (vaginal deliveries) and recovered really quickly despite 2nd tear with one. I want to take it for this baby who is going to delivered by planned caesarean but I’m struggling to find out when to start it. With my others I started taking it with first contractions but obviously that not going to happen this time. Does anyone know if you take the 1st dose before or after the caesarean?

Thanks

What even is arnica for I hear about it all the time. I'm having a section on Thursday so nervous

It’s a homeopathic treatment that reduces bruising/swelling. I honestly think it helps and have used it in a. rub on form when my children have bumped their heads etc but it is homeopathy which other people will say is a load of rubbish.

Is it your first caesarean? My 3rd baby but 1st caesarean so feeling really nervous too. I hate the unknown!

@Coupleofdaysandcounting yesss😩 first c section and first child too. So scared really dreading the recovery

I took the arnica after delivery as I wasn’t sure either.

@kiyaxx try not to worry! I had a planned CS this year and it was amazing compared to my first natural delivery. In terms of recovery it wasn’t too bad - keep on top of your pain meds, take peppermint oil capsules/tea (really helps with gas pain which is worse than the incision pain), take little walks to the kitchen etc so you don’t seize up, keep the wound dry and aired (c section knickers from amazon help), dry the wound with hair dryer on cool setting after shower, don’t over do it!

Good luck both

@Willow4987 thank you !! X and my kitchens downstairs I've heard that it's painful to go up and down them

Willow4987 · 24/11/2020 09:03

It’s not too bad! Just take it slowly when you’re going up and down for the first few days.

And never let the pain meds wear off! Take them like clockwork

@Willow4987 yea I definitely will I've heard that some people stop when they feel better and it was the worst mistake of their life lol Grin
