How soon after a c section can you have a vbac?

Just wanted to ask a question, I had my first baby in April via planned c section due to breech and gestational diabetes. Me & my partner are hoping to try for baby number to around March . I know everyone’s different but would I be able to request a v bac ?

All of the hospitals i have worked in as a midwife recommend a pregnancy interval of at least 12 months. I would try and wait slightly longer than March just to ensure that 12 months is reached and I think that a request for a VBAC is reasonable.

I had a c-section due to a breech baby in Oct 2018. I then had a vbac in Sep 2020 and all went well - a textbook delivery apparently! I just had to have extra monitoring due to the first csection but all went well and the recovery was much quicker than the section.

I had a vbac 18 months (and one day) after an emcs. It went well. I would go as far to say that I actually quite enjoyed it.

I had a VBAC just under 20 months after an EMCS. Scar was fine.

I had a long labour (which stalled) failed induction and subsequent EMCS in late December 2019, due DC2 early May 2019 and will be ELCS. Advised not to attempt VBAC within 16 months as likelihood of needing another EMCS is high (consultant and friend advised would be above 50%). Admittedly I had other complications but I believe rates of EMCS go way up if under 18 months. So I think the answer is that you can ask (you should always be able to ask and have your preferences heard!!) but the advice depends a lot on your previous history and experience(s).

TBH I’ve found that until they read about my previous hx, the initial trend has been to encourage me to VBAC (with a swift “oh you’ll need to see a consultant” as the appointments progress).

I had an elective c-section in June 2013 and was encouraged to have a vbac for my next baby who was due in July 2014. I ended up with a failed induction and an emergency c-section.

I had a VBAC 18 months after my c section but I wouldn't reccomend it. I was encouraged by the midwives and told it would be fine, but when I was actually in labour my consultant was very nervous and I had a lot of intervention. I would advise planning 2 years+ between births

I had a VBAC 11 months (49 weeks exactly) after EMCS. Everything was fine although I probably wouldn't recommend it....
