Elective csection on DS2?

Hi. :))

My son will be 9 years when I have DS2 and I had a bad birth experience with him, needing to be cut and stitched and he was born using forceps and the vaccum due to fetal distress. I suffered post natal psychosis after having him due to blood loss etc and I'm still on antidepressants, 10mg Lexapro.

I'm currently 27 weeks with #2 and the Consultant has offered me an elective csection as I was still going through procedures to be restitched below when my son was 1 year old and she cant guarantee that wont happen again.

Just looking for advice and opinions on what other people would choose?

Thanks very much.:)

I have chosen an elective cesarean with this pregnancy, my previous birth was an emergency Csection following an induction, baby was back to back and couldn't decend and we both ended up with an infection due to length of labour and I was exhausted. The consultant did say I'd likely be fine this time round but my gut instinct is ELCS.
I found going over my previous birth with the consultant when booking the Elective was very helpful and really recommend having a talk with them about your options, I am still having an ELSC but I do now feel alot more positive about a Vbac if it happens before my Csection date.
Hope you are supported either way and have a wonderful birth experience.

I’ve opted for an elective section with this baby.

DS1 was an emergency section after induction, and as much as I’d like to not have the section recovery again, I really want to do anything I can to ensure I’m actually awake to see this one being born! So a planned section with spinal is my route to that.

However if I went into labour before section I am more confident about going VBAC now

I had similar experience 5 years ago with DD, long drawn out induction, 3 hours pushing, episiotomy, forceps, dd algae score of 2 took a long time to mentally and physically recover from the trauma.

I’m due in just under 2 weeks and did debate an elective csection but I have decided to go for natural in the midwife led centre. I won’t lie I’m really nervous and I’ve mentally prepared myself for every possible outcome and I know not to have high hopes and just go with the flow. Main reason for trying natural is purely because I have 5 year old to take care of and do school run etc and although stitches were painful last time I was up and about the next day albeit walking like John Wayne.

I think whatever decision you make will be right for you. I’ve heard so many positive elective section stories from friends who had easy recoveries and found the experience really calm and magical x
