I'm breastfeeding during the day do my last pump around 11pm
On friday i stated getting light pink staining
Then today its red and in the toilet when I pee and there was a tiny clot I also have light cramps

I phoned the midwife and she said it could be my period
I told her it didnt seem like a period ad it wasnt heavy only wearing a liner
It mostly comes out when I pee and poop sorry tmi
And seems like the lochia bleeding

Could this acc be my period this early and would it be this light any help be great thank you

I think it could definitely be your period, BUT I would make an appointment with your GP in the morning.

Could well be your period, even if breastfeeding. And if you are exclusively breastfeeding they are often very light to start with if you get them - and can have small clots. Only need to be concerned if lots of large clots for a long time or much he’s over bleeding than you are used to. Even breastfeeding mums have been known to get pregnant that soon after birth, as ovulation/periods restart. So don’t worry, but if you still feel concerned do ring your midwife again, she will be able to put your mind at rest.

I had something very similar - cs, lochia bleeding, which then stopped, and then I started bleeding again about 8 weeks after giving birth. I don't think it was my period, because it then stopped again, and I had nothing until my period came back properly about 6 or so months later (I did mix-feeding for 4 months, then bottle only).
I would keep an eye on it, and maybe check with the GP if it turns really heavy, but other than that, I wouldn't worry - one of the joys of giving birth, your body is all over the place for a while.

Hi OP. I personally think a period so soon after birth and when breastfeeding is unlikely (although not impossible). Actually, exactly the same thing happened to me with my last baby. The bleeding started again pretty heavily a couple of weeks after it had seemed to stop. In my case it was definitely lochia again. It took a year for my actual period to return!

How heavy did you bleeding come back and for how long
mine feels like a period as blood is dark red very heavy and having cramps I'm only pumping during the day so midwife said that's why my period would have returned

If you're not breastfeeding through the night then it could well be your period. A lot of people who exclusively breastfeed find their period comes back when their baby starts sleeping longer at night.

It could be your period I guess, particularly with the cramps. It sounds early to me, but we're all very different! My bleeding started very suddenly and was extremely heavy, dripping on the floor and then soaking through pads very quickly. (I had to call the midwife). It didn't last long though. But it did it again a few days later. It did coincide with perhaps overdoing it though. I'd been on my feet a lot. I don't think I had cramps that I can remember.

I was also going to say that you might be overdoing it? I had a VBAC with DD, was bf and the postpartum bleeding had stopped completely before six weeks. I got blasé and started behaving as I had before even getting pregnant--longer walks, moving furniture to clean, etc. and of course, the bleeding started back up again. I was told to rest more and it tapered off again.

Or it could be your first postpartum. period, which might be v. different to your typical cycle.

Perhaps take it easy for a couple of days and see what happens? If it doesn’t taper off, definitely talk to your midwife again.
