Hoping someone can shed a little light , So I had my DD 2 weeks ago I went in for an induction had 2 pessarys and began contracting which over the the course of the day progressed.
My midwife tried breaking my waters 3 times but couldn't do it as she had said the babies head was right against the sac so give up for my waters to go naturally which they never did
And an hour later my daughter was born without my waters breaking?
How has this happened? After my daughter was born I felt a little bit of water come out of me but that's it!
It keeps playing on my mind to how this could of happened also due to the fact a few weeks prior I went in to maternity assessment unit because I thought my waters broke but was told they hadn't after an examination
My daughter also has scratches on the back off her head from the midwife trying to break my waters Confused

They would have broke during the active birth. Same happened to me and they broke just before his head came out.

Could it be that they had already broken and the midwife was mistaken?

Itisbetter · 01/11/2020 22:54

Was she born in the sack or free of it?

Babies can be born in their sac, en caul, it’s supposedly good luck.

PlanDeRaccordement · 01/11/2020 23:01

This can happen and it’s very good luck for the baby to be born in this way. It is very rare though, 1 in 80,000 births.

(They couldn’t possibly have broken the few weeks prior because they would have induced you back then to save the baby)

Why do you think your DD was born without your waters breaking OP? Because you didn’t feel it happening? I don’t think if you’re in active labour you would notice to be honest. It’s not a lot of liquid. When you see it on Tv it looks like someone has turned the hose on, but it’s really not like that in real life.

My midwife kept questioning me asking if I'm sure my waters had not already gone before I can to hospital and after I had her my midwife said I've never had this happen before and no she wasn't born in the sac
Also I was in hospital the whole time of my labour and even in active labour if I didn't know that my waters had gone surely my midwife would of known however she said they hadn't gone so I'm really confused!
Could of been that a few weeks prior the lady that examined me was mistaken I don't really know tbh x

Or perhaps the water in front of the baby was very little and the rest came out with the baby?

Tbh I never recall my waters breaking either! I remember my body started naturally pushing and I felt inbetween my legs and my waters were literally bulging out of me like a water balloon...but then I started pushing and never drowned the midwives or even noticed the water but they were defo in tact. So they probably just went during your pushing and you didnt really notice
