Latent phase- how long?

Hi, I am 39 weeks today with my 2nd baby. I was induced with my last at 42 weeks so not sure what a 'natural' start to labour looks like. I have been having stomach cramps for a couple of days. Yesterday they ramped up and were very sharp and 5 mins apart so we popped along to triage. We were monitored over some concerns about babies heart being very fast. Once they had seen the heart rate get to a better level we were allowed to leave as i was only 1cm dilated and after laying down for hours the contractions seriously slowed. I know baby will come when its ready but I wondered if any one would share how long their latent phase lasted for.... thanks 😊

Mine lasted 3 1/2 weeks but I ended being induced anyway so god knows how long it would have lasted!
Good luck 🥰

Unfortunately it's a case of "how long is a piece of string" as everyone is so different. I had random cramps on and off for about 2 weeks before the birth, then for about 12 hours before baby was born I had cramps gradually increasing in frequency but not really in intensity. Active labour was about 4 hours.

Thanks for your replies. Definitely not what I wanted to hear Grin. Trying to be patient! I want the baby to be ready just such an important and wanted baby on both sides who have had a terrible year. Looks rather like a lock down baby it will be. Hey-ho.

With mine going on for a few weeks I tried to think of it as stepping stones towards labour rather than 'stop.start' which is what people said to me. When it came to labour it was pretty quick so I felt like all those days of niggles helped get everything into place x

I m up to 36 hours so far (I m 41+3 today), got checked out by midwifes last night and only up to 1cm so far. I wasn't keen on the idea initially but they gave me some dihydrocodeine to try so that I could sleep for a bit last night which didn't work for that long but made some difference so if you re struggling don't suffer in silence.
