Giving birth during another lockdown?

Hi

I am due 20th November and just curious as to whether the hospital restrictions are likely to tighten up if we went into another lockdown? I can't remember what happened last time as I was only newly pregnant.

As it stands the hospital near me are only allowing partners present during established labour but wondered if it's likely I'll be giving birth alone if rules are tightened further?

FTM and petrified to be honest Confused

I’m not sure, they seem to be quite strict up north.
I’m not due till May and I’m already anxious, hopefully someone with better answers will be along for you soon!

Does anyone know what the rules are re partner attending for an elective section? When is he allowed to be there from and how long can he stay after? I can't find any guidance on that...

Every hospital trust has different rules. So you need to keep an eye on your chosen hospital or birth centre. I found mine has a FB page which is updated more often than the official hospital website. Even during the last lockdown partners were allowed for established labour and birth across the country I think. I'm due 18th Nov, and I think we will just have to wait and see what happens. X

I'm due the 17th nov, our hospital in Merseyside (so we're tier 3 already) have the same restrictions as before, partners allowed but only once they've confirmed your in established labour. Once you've had the baby and move to the ward they have to leave and no visitors. I think partners just wear a mask too. Our hospital is offering the chance to leave straight from the delivery suit instead of going into a ward. For c sections partners can be be there from the start but again just leave straight after and if being induced only allowed in once in actual labour xx

I'm Derby and as far as I'm aware Dads are still allowed once labour is established and are allowed to stay for 2hrs after the birth. Visiting time is only for 2hrs per day and they allocate a time.
Csections are the same, dads have to wait in a separate room until it's your turn to go to theatre then can stay for 2hrs.
I think it's terrible, what difference would staying longer make they've already been in the room with you.

I’m due on Friday- I know people who gave birth in April- they will no make women give birth alone- it will still be from established labour!!!!
The only thing that will change will be visiting hrs for partners- but that has differed across trusts anyway.

Throughout the entire pandemic youve always been allowed 1 birthing partner, dont worry you wont be alone. They will be allowed in once in established labour and then afterwards (for a certain amount of time or until you are taken to the ward) I gave birth at 09:40 and didnt go on to the ward until gone 1pm so hubs could stay until then.

I gave birth in April in London.
Dh was only allowed to come after I got a room in labour ward. You had to get assessed in triage and if they decided to admit you they would find you a room and then you get to call your birthing partner. Dh was given a wristband at reception and let in. He was allowed in and out, the first day. The second day they said if he leaves he won’t be allowed back in. So pack your partners something to eat or tell them to do it themselves.

I had a c-section at the end and he was allowed to stay in recovery room but I asked him to follow ds3 into nicu instead. Next time I saw him was after discharge. He was waiting downstairs and the person working in reception helped me carry my stuff and ds3 was wheeled to the exit in his hospital bed.

I read some excellent advice on here about taking a four wheeled suitcase as a hospital bag. It is much easier to manage than other bags.
