Having contractions but can't bring myself to bother my midwife

Hello,

I'm 37 weeks and a few days with my second baby. On Friday morning I started having contractions that went on all day. Got my mum to pick up DS1, called my partner home from work and phoned labour ward in evening. MW on phone said that they were very busy so I'd have a wait and only to come in if I was in agony, so I had a lie down and everything stopped. Now they've come back today but I can't bring myself to ring my community midwife because I get the impression she thinks I'm a bit of a pain. I've had hyperemesis all through pg (must admit not been full of the joys of spring due to vomiting constantly). Luckily DS1 is at school and my partner has gone to work so I'm just riding the contractions out and kind of hoping they'll go away again. Has anyone else been through this stop/start thing? I feel like such an idiot that I don't know what's happening and it's my second one!

I was in slow labour for 2 weeks and had the midwifes out 3 times - I felt like an eejit too!

When i was in labour i was hobbling round holding the side of the table grunting like a pig ... then i would say to my mum

'its not labour - dont bother the midwives'

lol.

If you feel like you want to ring them you should, its what they arethere for,

but if you can brave through it do .. until you caNT ANYMORE!

Is there someone who can come and be with you? I wouldnt worry about 'bothering' the midwife if you want to talk to her. If you are managing home can be the best place esp. if the ward is very busy. But get DP or close friend round imo. and very good luck

Don't worry about what midwife thinks of you! It's her job to help you decide if this is it. I didn't want to call either - so scared of going to hospital and only being 2cm dilated - when I eventually did call, the midwife told me to have a bath and a paracetamol. When I called for the second time, she said 'I suppose you'd better come in then'. I got there and dd was born 45 minutes later. Also 2nd baby - the contractions were much less painful and regular than 1st, and she came very quickly! So def get someone to keep you company and help time contractions and call mw whenever you feel like it.
Good luck.
