I had an elective csection with my second. It was a wonderful calm experience and the recovery was fine (much better than my emergency csection)!

It's great! You turn up to your appointment, say I'd like to have my baby now and an hour or so later there she was!

Enjoy and congratulations in advance!

All the theatre staff were great too, they really put you at ease.. if you're nervous just mention it to them and they'll help you x

I have had an emergency c section and a planned one.

I was absolutely shitting my pants with the planned one. Visibly shaking and I could have actually been sick. The staff are so, so good. They are used to people being nervous and they really try and calm you down.

You can't feel a thing, and it's over quite quickly. The tablets they give you after are really strong and it feels great!

How exciting that you will have a baby this afternoon!! Good luck x

Good luck! I was so nervous before my planned c section (having had two emergency c sections before) that I got very faint and had to be wheeled to theatre and lie down. Apparently it’s very normal. Try to think ahead, eg, in six hours time (or however long) it will all be over. Slow, calm breaths if you can. Distraction if you can find something that works!
Best of luck. It is scary waiting, but you will be fine.

PS if you feel sick after tell them immediately and they can give you something to take that away. In the op, tell the anaesthetist how you’re feeling if you don’t feel right. In my experience they are lovely people with a great bedside manner.

I've had 3 cs, 3rd was elective and it was so calm and relaxed. Honestly you'll be fine. I got through my worry by thinking "well this baby has to come out somehow and by tonight it'll be all over and I'll have by beautiful Dd".

Thank you all!! Ahh so nervous. There is me and another lady. Just waiting to find out who is going first. I'm really happy to hear so many positive stories. Thank you!!

I had a planned c section for my second baby. First was an 'emergency c-section' so I knew what got expect but still got a bit nervous and teary when I was wheeled into the theatre! It must be adrenaline. I hope everything goes well, you'll have your tiny baby in your arms soon, good luck!

1 emcs and 3 elcs, I was fine with my emcs because after a disastrous Labour I just wanted baby out, I was terrified for all my elcs as I knew what was coming. The theartre staff are lovely though and really put you at ease, I remember with dc3 I was having a lovely discussion with the surgeon about the pros and cons of home delivery from tescos and sainsbury and which was best. With dc 4 the surgeon had just become a father to id twins, I am an id twin so we chatted about that!

NotYourDawg · 28/10/2020 11:20

I was really nervous with both of mine. You can't feel anything and you will be surprised how quickly the baby is delivered. it's the stitching back up that takes the most time, but you'll be distracted by your beautiful baby afterwards.

You may experience trapped wind pains which hurt against your fresh scar, get your partner to bring some peppermint tea for you to sip to help ease the wind.

Hope it all went ok for you x
