nothing! it all stopped we called the midwife led unit for advice (who subsequently told me that I hadn't been booked in with them, and was still booked for a home birth ). Am now sitting around wondering what to do next. I thought second births were meant to be quick?!

This happened to me for a night - we even took dd1 to the grandparents as I was sure this was it! The next day I had a sweep, then another night of contractors and finally labour was established the next day.

Good luck, and sympathy! It's exhausting at this stage.

are you due? overdue? MLU cannot turn you away if you arrive there in labour....this is a bit of pre labour, shifting baby around into a good position, starting dilation/effacement, don;t be disheartened.. rest today, and things will happen soon.

DH doesn't know whether to go to work or what to do. We were so excited last night! I don't know whether i should call my local community midwives an ask them if they can check me or what? I have a routine appointment with them tm anyway. Also I don't know whether i should call them re. transferring my file across to the midwife led unit, which has been written in my notes a million times over but obviously hasn;t happened... I am in limbo!

I am due on Wednesday lulumama. I had a really quick birth last time so I guess I was kind of hoping that it would be the same this time around too.

nothing to say this won;t be quick when it gets going this time

how come you have decided against homebirth?

HelloMama · 15/10/2007 09:12

because I have a 3.3 year old toddler and i was just worried about what we would do with him when it all kicked off. I just wanted to be able to concentrate on this baby as it was born and not be worrying about DS and whether he would be ok. The midwife led unit seemed like a good compromise.

But what will you do with your toddler when you go off to the MLU? How about sticking with the homebirth if it happens at night and then he won't need to be disrupted and will probably sleep through it?

DaisyWhoooo · 15/10/2007 09:37

The ctx are probably pre-labour, so they will be doing something by getting your body ready for the birth, getting baby into a good position. Don't be disheartened, it all sounds good and you will have that baby soon I'm sure!

HelloMama · 15/10/2007 10:02

well, the good news is that it has all started again... fingers crossed to a baby by tea time!

belgo · 15/10/2007 12:44

hope it's all going well HelloMama - all those contractions last night would have been preparing you and the baby for the birth.
