Wondered if anyone has any practical advice.

Dd has just turned two and is very cuddly, clingy, probably due to covid and spending 24.7 with me. She's quite a young two year old, in a cot, likes a cuddle in, I need to lift her etc.

Section planned December.

Any practical advice on how to manage? I remember someone saying lift nothing heavier than baby, but with a wee one already here how easy is that?

Dh will be about sometimes but is a farmer and will be calving so it's pretty much just me. Starting to worry now.

Thank you

I had the same. It's not easy.

I started encouraging the older one to walk, and saying mummy can't lift you, encouraging him to climb into his car seat, seat at the table etc instead of being lifted. I did it months in advance of the baby coming so that it wasn't associated with the baby and was just habit by then. Try making things into a game if possible - if they don't want to walk but want to be carried, see who can walk like a ballerina or a tiger or whatever.

Other than that, just... Good luck Grin

Oh god, this was my fear.

She's not ready for a bed so will have to hope dh home.

Care seat is high in pickup but I won't drive to begin with.

High chair a problem. Even bath....

I'm scared!!

We had an age gap similar to yours. It's a long time ago, but as far as I remember I encouraged DD to climb into my lap - she used to curl herself around the bump.
We stopped using the high chair by then, she used a normal dining chair with a little booster cushion. Again she was encouraged to climb in herself with a little boost if needed.
For her bed we bought a single bed and used some side rails which you could fit. It was a good job we did that as DS needed the cot within a couple of months as he outgrew the Moses basket!

A www, yeah she's a bump cuddler. Quite sweet she is gentle.

Wondering if I should rethink the bed thing but don't want to upset her good routine. Huge cot so was hoping to leave her till spring. Could maybe remove side though.

Wondered about a Tripp trap for table?

We have Tripp Trapps for both of ours and love them, got rid of the baby high chair really early on and it was great.

Make sure every sink etc has a little step. We have one at the bath too and they both love to climb in themselves (supervised!)

DC1 was in a toddler bed by the time DC2 arrived. DC2 has had the side off her cot since about 18m with a bed guard and she loves to get herself in and out independently but she's no trouble at bedtime/mornings. If you need the cot for restraining her (my DC1 was like this!) it's a different story...

I think we changed her bed a couple of months before DS arrived so it wasn't too many changes at once.
