Back pain after C Section

Hi ladies.
I'm 4 weeks post section and I'm still having a lot of back pain where my spinal block went in.
I had an epidural to start with as I was hoping for a natural birth but unfortunately it was not meant to be.
So I obviously had a spinal block for my C Section.
Anyway I'm still getting really dull achy pain where they put the needles in and holding DS for long periods of time is giving me grief.
My question is- is this normal? How long does the achy pain last for or do I need to speak with my doctor?
The issue I have is that the GP won't refer me to a physio or chiropractor because of COVID so there is absolutely no point asking!
Painkillers aren't really doing anything so no point asking for pain pills either!
Anyone in, or has been in the same position as me?
Just worried that as DS gets bigger I'm going to struggle to pick him up, as I'm struggling a little now! 😭

Hi lovely! Congrats on your little one Smile

I had my DS by planned c section 12 weeks ago and I have the same thing. It did ease a little bit but like you I get it when I've been holding him for a long time and it's worse at the end of the day.

Just out of interest did they struggle to get your spinal in? Mine took a few attempts and I've read that can cause problems.

I don't really have an answer yet but I'm going to see a women's physio soon. Is that an option for you too??

Hi @GingerSunday. My spinal block went in straight away with no problems. I think they tried twice with my initial epidural but she said it wasn't an issue.
I can't afford a physio or chiropractor with maternity pay and I can't ask DH as he is covering all the bills and the mortgage and with Christmas coming up too, we can't stretch the money that far.
If you're still getting pain after 12 weeks and I'm only 4 weeks then I have a way to go I suppose!

Well I would definitely mention it at your 8 week check because you can be referred for physio on the NHS. I was referred but the waiting list was quite long so I'm seeing a private physio for one session to see how it goes! But definitely mention it to the GP.

@GingerSunday there's no chance because of Covid!
I called months ago asking to be referred as I have a frozen shoulder and wanted some help to regain some mobility before DS arrived and I was told no one would see me because it's not urgent and because of Covid! Absolute joke! I ended up spending a fortune at a private chiropractor. It's still not right but at least I can hold my son now!
I will mention my back pain at my 8 week check but I doubt I will even be seen and it will be over the phone consultation.
Just absurd! 😭
