How can I speed things up?

Hey everyone, so I've been having contractions regularly every 10-30 minutes since 12:30am Saturday night/Sunday morning. I went to triage yesterday afternoon after 12 hours and they checked me over and I wasn't dilated at all. I'm still having regular contractions, they have prescribed me cocodamol but I still can't get a wink of sleep and im just really fed up. They aren't as bad now I have the painkillers so I can get on with day to day things but I don't know how long they will let me go on like this. I am 38 weeks and have a section booked for next weds which was before I went into natural labour. I'm so fed up of the pain I just want to have my baby or not 😖 does anyone have any tips of how I can get my contractions to hurry along and get my body moving? Because of the pain I'm missing baby's movements which is starting to make me anxious

Go back and explain about the movements.
Good luck.

Hi Op - I had the same with my first. I had a really long labour and I actually wasn't contracting properly because my DS was in a really awkward position, i.e. not straight on my cervix.

Rest as much as you can. Keep your energy levels up so eat and drink. Have you tried doing things like walking up the stairs sideways? Are you bouncing on a ball? Lunges? Inversions? Standing with one foot up on a chair?

Oh and just to give you hope, we got there in the end. I went into labour Saturday afternoon and had my DS on Tuesday am, with no need for an EMCS or instrumental delivery.

I did have an epidural late on the Monday and managed to get some sleep. It's a good option if you need some rest.

Sorry - one last post! My labour started and completely stopped at least four times. I first went into labour at 37+4 and had my DS at 40+6. So don't panic if that happens too. Its not necessarily a straight line but nobody tells you this!

Give triage a call today and explain about the movements. They might be reducing so you need to be monitored. Good luck!

I had this (although no section booked). I eventually begged for an induction and epidural and even then I was slow to dilate. I would really insist they take some action and tell them you can't wait any longer for things to pan out naturally. My labour ended up being over 5 days start to finish. This time round they have agreed to induce me at 12 hours if the same thing happens. Good luck, hope it ends soon.
