Induction tomorrow - so nervous

Can anyone tell me good stories?

My first birth was awful and spontaneous so hopefully it will be better and shorter.

But I feel hot and cold with anxiety - and the covid/hospital situation isn't helping, especially the mixed messages from midwives about how much of the time my husband will be able to be there.

Also paranoid I've given myself antenatal mastitis from expressing colostrum as I have GD so baby has higher chance of needing top ups) - all very unlikely I know, it's the anxiety talking

No advice but didn't want to read and run. Good luck for tomorrow

I had my first via induction during lockdown.
I went into hospital alone at 10am, was assessed and put on baby monitor for half an hour before having gel applied to cervix. Was then left for 'it to do its magic'. No progress by 4pm so had a second dose. Started with pain at 7pm, got in the bath at 9pm to ease pains as was still only 2cm. Waters broke in the bath at 10pm, transferred to labour ward at which point DH was allowed in, DD was born at 1.25am. I'd happily go for an induction again!

That sounds a nice calm story @Mommabear20

I can't sleep even though I know I should get as much rest as possible... just want to get on with it! The anticipation is probably worse than the event

Would be so great if it was over in one day! My last labour (spontaneous) took three days...!

I was induced last year. 2 pessarys 6 hours apart got me to 3cm then they broke my waters and my daughter was born two hours later. Good luck!

Well I'm fully awake now and won't be getting back to sleep I don't think....

Ugh, just want this over now.

DS was induced as I had pre eclampsia. It was painful but not unbearably so. I have nothing to compare it to though, he's my only so far so I haven't experienced spontaneous labour.

Sending good vibes your way, hope you're snuggling your newborn very soon ❤️

I have gestational diabetes and a history of severe post-natal pre eclampsia. I'm being induced (with full consent) at 39+1 as even though I'm diet controlled I was allowed to go to full term spontaneous delivery last time and both baby and I were very sick despite all signs being good on monitoring.
My first was on NICU and I'll do anything to avoid that separation again.
Hopefully my body knows what it's doing this time so the induction won't be too difficult to get going. My body has felt ready for a while - some full days of braxton hicks every 10 minutes - but no show yet.
Let's see how it goes. I'm aware of the risks on both sides, but overall happy with my decision. I actually had an epidural last time and it slower everything down and caused complications, so my aim if I need the drip is just to power through hoping it doesn't last long. Maybe that's naive!
