What to do night before c-section?

Just that really. DC1 will be with his grandparents so it will be just me and DH. I feel like we should have a nice meal but not sure what will be suitable pre surgery. Don't want to spend the night fretting and/or on social media. A nice bath is out of the question as we have the world's tiniest bath and I'll get wedged in it trying to get out Grin What did you do, or what are your plans for the night before you go in?

I had an argument with my mother while trying to fix her computer. This is not something I would recommend though Hmm. Three days before my section I had an absolutely lovely evening at a dinner party - this I would recommend (although probably not in Covid times).

I think I wasn't able to eat after 6pm or something like that.

I'd suggest that you have a really nice lunch, maybe a little wander in the afternoon if the weather's not awful and then just try to have a cosy evening in. Film, board game - something like that. Enjoy the peace and quiet!

Um nothing. I was pretty stressed so basically just tried to do the normal routine. My first my waters broke a few days before scheduled op so spent the night before lying on the hospital bed watching the fetal monitor. Second time too busy with first child to do anything special.

I went out for lunch with DH, DC1 and my parents, then to the park for the afternoon. Checked the bags were all ready then settled with a book when DC1 was in bed.

I packed, read, watched californication and slept. Be careful what time you eat and good luck!

I went to a lovely restaurant with my then DH... we sat outside and watched the sunset. Much better than sitting around at home.

Good shout on what time I eat. The pre-op isn't until that morning and that's when I get my time slot for the op so I won't know until that morning what the rules are. A nice lunch it is then, just in case, and maybe a film in the evening. Thanks!!

Hi @SomethingAboutYou - anaesthetist here. If you are going in on the morning I know you won’t know your exact time but currently treat it like you are having surgery at 8.00am. So nothing to eat for 6 hours before (could last have a snack at 2.00 am) and you can drink clear fluids until 6.00am (nothing with milk or bits, only things that are clear like water and squash!). Then when you go in and they plan timings they might give you a drink depending on what the list order is.

Hope you have a wonderful experience.

Thanks @countbackfromten that's useful information to know.
