Hi everyone,

Day four of maternity leave for DC no. 2 and climbing the walls, so please, keep me entertained with your experiences.

I had DC1 at 39+4, entire labour (from mild backache to birth) was less than 8 hours.

Midwife guesses (just for fun) that this little one will arrive during week 38 and labour will be shorter.

What's everyone's experiences please? I am clearly not a patient person! Grin

Sorry I can't help I'm only 23 weeks with my second pregnancy, my first was born 40+1 after none of the staff believed my waters broke on my actual due date! I started contracting at 6pm ish straight after my waters went cooking dinner and then he arrived at 5.09am by forceps. His head was at a slight off angle else they said he'd have been with us probably a few hours earlier 😒 lol
I know I'll have these between 36/37 weeks as it's twins but I'm hoping for natural delivery if twin 1 is in the right position else it's a section for me 🙁.
Good luck! I know how you feel about climbing walls, I've not worked since June because of bloody Covid as I work at the local hospital as a HCA so being pregnant along with other underlying health issues I was signed off. I can't help but feel I never know when I'm going to work again 😢 xx

Baby 1 - 11.5 hour labour, 40+1
Baby 2 - 1 hr 40 min labour, 39+6
Baby 3 - 2 hour labour, 39+5

I'm currently 39+1 with baby number 4 and hoping he comes soon!

I’ll let you know. DD1 was 40+5 and a 17 hour labour. I’m currently 38w (tomorrow) with DD2 and really hoping she comes soon.

First born at 37+4 just under 8 hours from first twinge to birth- active phase recorded as an hour and a half based on midwife asking me when it’s started ‘properly hurting’ as we had only arrived at hospital with 20 minutes to spare.

Second labour started at 39+4 but born 2 minutes into 39+5 from first twinge to birth was 3 hours 15 minutes and only arrived at hospital with 15 minutes to spare- you’d really think I’d have learnt wouldn’t you!

Ibizababyy · 13/09/2020 21:37

Oh and to add as your first was fairly quick that you really need to trust yourself when you go into labour this time. I rang the hospital after an hour and a half and they told me it sounded far too soon to go in, I pointed out I was worrried about not making it after the first time and lovely midwife said ‘well trust your own body and come whenever you feel you need to, we’ll see you at some point tonight’- I still hung around at home for another hour! Confused

Dc 2 was 3 days early. Labour from me being fast asleep to holding ds was 2.55 hours!!

saiditbetterthanme · 13/09/2020 21:43

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow with number 2. Ds came on his due date.
I cannot wait to meet this baby! I am crabby, hot and tired and running after ds1 making my hips really hurt!
Yesterday I felt some pains but I think it was the baby dropping. I dont remember being this uncomfortable last time! I've been weirdly emotional, too. Feeling fine and then I burst into tears as DH made breakfast but the milk wasn't cold enough. It's been traumatic haha

DC1 - on due date. Waters broke Weds eve. Contractions started early hours of Thursday morning. He was born Sat lunch time. Officially my labour was 17ish hours.

DC2. 41+3. Less than 2 hours from first contraction to having him in my arms.
