Had an elective section at 11pm Friday night (was held up all day by emergencies coming in).

Went to the ward from recovery at 2am. At 1pm sat they asked if I wanted to go home. Was back home in my own bed by 3.30pm!

I feel like I need some sort of quick turn around prize Grin

First one I was in 4 nights, second one I was in for 2! I know they are trying to get people out faster due to covid but I was kept expecting that (better off at home though as the ward was so busy and noisy and the loo was so far away from my bed it felt like I was on a trek).

Congratulations on your new baby, OP.

At this rate, if a woman gives birth in an ambulance, they’re liable to turn it around and drop her off at her front door. 😁

WankPuffins · 24/08/2020 11:18

*i wasn’t expecting that

@LillianBland it’s crazy! The woman in the next bed was about the same timings and they said she could go too. We were both just WTF? Although she did ask to stay the extra night as she had two toddlers at home and wanted some extra time and they did let her stay. Mine are other two are much older so it’s easier for me.

When I called Dh to come get us he thought I was joking.

Congratulations op 🥰

When i had my daughter nearly 3 years ago when we got to the hospital at 4pm on the Friday and they said we was lucky because they were getting full and would be directing people to the next hospital which is 40 mins away... I had my daughter at 10:46pm and then was home for 2pm the next day. As a ftm I hated it but understood why as they were so busy. This time I hope it's the same 🤣

I had an emergency section on the 6th June at 3pm .. was discharged 10am Next morning !!
My dp also couldn’t believe it when I rang telling him to forget bringing me clothes & asked him to collect us Instead 😳 . Practically crawled to the car

WankPuffins · 25/08/2020 20:31

@Mj2196 oh god, I don’t know how I made it to the car really! It was a looooong trek through the hospital just to get to the main doors. A volunteer pushed my bags on a trolley but I had to carry Dd to where Dh was waiting just outside with the car seat. I didn’t even bother getting dressed, was on a hospital gown and dressing gown Grin must have looked a state!

Similar happened to me. Had CS at 1pm, off home at 10am the next day.

feesh · 25/08/2020 20:42

Nobody brought you a wheelchair? That’s awful! But many congratulations. Enjoy the newborn snuggles!

Mj2196 · 25/08/2020 20:43

@WankPuffins the midwife took bags to DH, and then came back and carried my baby! . Oh don’t I must of looked in a bad way cause The volunteer on the main door took one look at me and insisted dp fetch the car and park on the zebra crossing right outside the main entrance 🤣

notleglass · 25/08/2020 20:49

Had my first at 6am I was home by 2pm 🤓 2nd had to stay 24 hours for monitoring it killed me 😂

WankPuffins · 26/08/2020 06:30

@feesh a wheelchair would have been too helpful! Seriously though, my friend had two babies in the US and then one here - she couldn’t believe that she was expected to walk though the corridors carrying a baby a few hours after birth here while back home it was standard to be wheeled to the door.

Think I can beat that one, had mine in an ambulance in a car park at 5 o clock, home by 7.

WankPuffins · 26/08/2020 06:51

@Imtoooldforallthis Shock amazing!

I was delighted when released mid afternoon after giving birth at 6am. Even though I had a private room, I just wanted to use my own shower etc.

If I get chance to have another I expect I’ll want to stay longer and have a day off from toddler wrangling 😂

I'm having twins via c section in January and was told to prepare to be discharged within 24 hours - at first the thought petrified me but now I think I'd rather come home than struggle on a ward with no husband with 2 babies (no visiting hours what so ever due to covid)
