Did you feel labour was close?

Just trying to fight boredom and impatience as I am 39+2 and every day I wonder “is this it?”. I was talking to a friend yesterday and she asked me if I felt I was “done” with the pregnancy and I said I am very impatient to meet the baby, but feel quite lucky as I am still feeling well and havenmt reached the stage where I can no longer cope.
She reckoned I am still far from labour then as I my body is not “done”. Is that the case? Did you feel you had reached your absolute limit before labour started? Also, how many weeks were you when little one arrived?
Thanks!

First baby was late and induced, second baby came on time. Never hated pregnancy but found second harder with first to look after. Was harder to move and sleeping became really difficult. I was like you - impatient to meet babes.

Hell yes! I was having regular contractions from 36 weeks and then a week of early labour before no 2 actually put in an appearance at 39+3. I could not have been more done with being pregnant.

I’m 39+2 too :) And I’m quite ready to have her arrive now. I felt the same with DD1 but find pregnancy with DD2 much easier and wasn’t fussed.

DD1 arrived on her due date and DD2 arrived 6 days late.

I wasn't done with being pregnant or anywhere close. I delivered relatively quickly at 36+6 (FTM) and we were only at the hospital for less than 3 hours before he was born. I realised I was in labour around midnight after having mild period type pains that day and he was here by 8.30am. Earlier in the day we'd put up furniture, sorted out my hospital bag for the first time and I'd cooked a complex dinner. Little did we know what was to come that evening... Immediately after he was here I just remember thinking "was that IT?" as I'd expected it to be much more drawn out. Then my husband had to contact my work to tell them I wouldn't be coming in, hehe.

I felt completely done at 38w second. Didn't feel I could on more than a couple of days. I did though. By 41w I had loads more energy and felt fine. Baby arrived at 42+2 in a 2 hour labour with no signs at all until that morning!

This is interesting! I'm a first time mum too and only just behind you OP, at 39 weeks exactly today.

I'm half totally ready, half not at all! Midwife offered to do a sweep next Monday when I see her and I panicked and asked her to delay it another week ShockGrin

Like you, I'm not massively uncomfortable, but do have a weird pressure in my pelvis that has started the last couple of days.

It's so hard not to symptom spot! X

@ Chichz I know, right? I am super aware of every little change or movement these days :D
Good luck!!!

And you too OP!

I'm not so sure I believe that feeling 'ready' is any real sign either... people always have their own wise words to say, haha! X

Feeling ready isn't a sign at all. I had a lovely pregnancy all the way through. DS born at 38+3. Was fine then all of a sudden had back ache at 10pm waters broke at 8am the next morning and I was 3cm dilated by 10am I was 10cm dilated. So feeling ready is not a thing in my opinion.

Frazzled13 · 18/08/2020 19:39

Not at all. Met DH for lunch at 39+6, I was totally prepared to go over the due date as it was baby number 1, didn't have any pre-labour signs you read about. My contractions started as I walked home from lunch, DD born on her due date the next day.

Summer41 · 18/08/2020 19:45

No, not at all. I was booked in for an induction on my due date, decided that baby wasn't going to show before that and had planned a day of pampering the day before (manicure, pedicure, hair wash and blow dry, shave legs etc). Went into labour in the middle of the night and gave birth with hairy legs and greasy hair and I didn't have nicely painted nails for the photos!

KeyboardMash · 20/08/2020 14:53

DD1 - absolutely not. Waters broke in the middle of a fucking restaurant at 36+5 - I wasn't due to finish work for another week and had only half-packed my hospital bag. DD2 - yes. I was so fucking done. I think I may have coaxed her out by force of will at 37+4.

walksonthebeach · 20/08/2020 14:58

I always got really down in myself a few hours before physical signs of labour started. Like my hormone levels dropped or something. Very strange

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 23/08/2020 21:56

I felt absolutely no different to any other day!
