Hello, currently 40+7 (41 weeks).

Seen a lot threads in last couple of days about sweeps and inductions - so feel like I'm not the only waiting an age to meet their little one.

I read somewhere that summer babies tend to be overdue 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just wanted to put a message out there as I'm feeling impatient, huge and well just a bit fed up!

Feel free to join in a light hearted rant or share what you're doing to try and get baby out.

I've had a sweep today, been for a walk and done some bouncing - it can't stay in there forever!

Urgh I feel you! Just been for a walk with DH to try and get things moving!

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 15:05

I've had a pessary inserted so let's see if that does anything for me! Partner was here for the induction but has had to go away due to restrictions - he can come back for 2hrs later for visiting so that's something to look forward to this evening.

Any updates for you @squirrelnutkins1

Xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 05/08/2020 15:13

I've just been on the monitor and now waiting for the doc to come and do the exam and pessary.

It's all getting a bit real!!!! @zeeeex

My OH can stay until I've seen the doc I think then has to go.

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 15:20

@squirrelnutkins1 Wow we really are in this together. It's not bad at all ♥️ you got this! You'll be happier once you're all settled xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 05/08/2020 15:31

We really are! Are you staying in now or will you go home in a bit? It's horrible wearing a mask in here. If I'm given the choice I think I'll go home cus I can't imagine trying to sleep in a mask @zeeeex

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 15:50

I'm not allowed to go home now because of the pessary, so that they are still able to monitor baby. I assume it's different rules in different hospitals! So this is me here now until baby arrives which is a crazy thought!! X

squirrelnutkins1 · 05/08/2020 16:01

I think it's the same for me and I didn't realise. Just being a total wimp and crying cus I'm on my own!!!! @zeeeex

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 16:10

They tried to fit a cooks balloon but couldn't get to my cervix because this is the preferred method and allows you to go home. When I realised I would have to get a pessary I burst into tears cause I knew it meant I'd be staying here alone.

I promise once you're settled in your room you will feel way more relaxed, and it's a step in the right direction for meeting baby. My city has just gone into lockdown which is worrying for visiting restrictions xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 05/08/2020 18:19

Ah I'm sorry ☹️

I'm on a bay with two other women, they're both ahead of me and puffing away thru contractions whereas my shop is shut 😩☹️

Sorry about that, really hope you can have some support xxx

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 18:28

@squirrelnutkins1 my shop is shut too! Still nothing happening for me. It's just been announced visitors are completely cancelled so that stings a bit. Hope this baby comes soon.

How are you feeling xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 05/08/2020 18:39

Gutted ☹️ Is he allowed when you're in active labour at least???

I'm ok, some very very very mild period like cramps but I'm probably just imaging it 😂

I've never been diagnosed but Ive got ocd tendencies and being here isn't helping those at all, I feel really dirty so just trying to control my tendencies. I got DH to drop me off a pack of antibac wipes!

How about you? @zeeeex

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 18:43

@squirrelnutkins1 Yeah he will be allowed back in then, who knows when that will be though 😂 I think imagining tiny twinges too but it's probably nothing. It's been such a long day that I hope I sleep well tonight!

Hopefully you are able to put a nice movie or podcast on and chill out and get a bit of sleep ♥️

Do you know if you're having a boy or girl? Xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 05/08/2020 19:23

I hope you can sleep too.

I feel like this is never going to happen. The lady next to me had her pessary after me and her waters have just gone ☹️ so jealous!

The other woman is arguing with her OH on the phone for not keeping people up to date with what's happening 🙄

I'm just reading a book, probably won't get to read one for a few years now 😂

Yeah a girl. What about you? Is this your first?

How was your food? I had lasagne, it wasn't awful but it wasn't great either lol!

@zeeeex

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 19:27

Oh gosh. The girl next to me first came in for induction on Monday!!! There is still plenty time for our pessaries to work. I think the next few days are going to involve a lot of waiting.

I got vegetarian haggis which was okay! Watching a film on the iPad and trying to chill out. Will be getting hooked up to the CTG every 4/5 hours so best get some shut eye when I can

Xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 05/08/2020 19:32

They've said to me if this doesn't do anything on 24 hours I'll have a 24 hour break and then try the pessary again and if that doesn't work then a c section 😳

Now she's slagging her OH off to a friend on the phone 🙄🙄🙄

I'm on six hourly monitoring, next should be about 9pm.

Wish I'd thought to download some bits onto my iPad! Enjoy.

Defo get some shut eye where you can. I'm
Worried about being exhausted even before labour!

zeeeex · 05/08/2020 22:33

@squirrelnutkins1 That's pretty much what they've said to me too! I can't tell if I'm starting to get cramps now or if it's trapped wind - TMI sorry! Either that or my mind is playing tricks on me. My next monitoring is at 12ish so doubt I'll snooze before then.

Any update for you?

The girl next to me is snoring 🙈 xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 06/08/2020 02:56

Oh my days we sound exactly the same 😂
I've had a little bit of a sleep but wide awake now. I've got the whole bay to myself so at least I can take my mask off. Think my next monitoring is around 5. I was on for over an hour last time.
How's things with you? Hope the snoring has stopped! I'm trying not to be demoralised. I'll be gutted if more ladies come in tomorrow and go off to the labour rooms before me!

@zeeeex

zeeeex · 06/08/2020 03:09

So it's been eventful!!! I began getting definite cramps at around 11, was given some painkillers and a heatpack for my back which helped. Then at my midnight monitoring it showed baby's heart rate was dropping each time I contracted. Long story short pessary was removed and I was given an injection in my thigh to stop contractions. My choice is either try pessary again or go for a section and I've said I'd prefer section. My cervix is still high and closed and I don't want to be distressing baby again and going through it all for the same outcome as today!!

Any cramps for you? Xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 06/08/2020 09:23

Ooh how are things now? Are you booked for a section today? How are you feeling about things?

Very slight cramps. I'm having plenty of tightenings when I'm on the monitor but I can barely feel them! Another person has been in and gone already, she was only here about an hour!

I've got one person munching loudly and another on the phone constantly 😩

squirrelnutkins1 · 06/08/2020 16:41

Well the pessary only flattened the cervix. I've not dilated at all 😢😢😢😢😢😢 got to keep it in for another six hours and be re examined. It had slipped so maybe wasn't put in right or just slipped itself. I'm so gutted 😔

squirrelnutkins1 · 08/08/2020 00:15

Any news? @zeeeex hope you're ok. Our little miss arrived Friday just after lunch by quite a terrifying emergency c section. So in love x

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/08/2020 21:10

@zeeeex how's things? X

zeeeex · 16/08/2020 21:20

@squirrelnutkins1 Hey love! My pessary induction ended up failing - baby's heart beat was dropping each time I was having a contraction so out came the pessary at about 2am, and long story short - by 11:22am, Zac was born by C section. He is so perfect it's been such a whirlwind!! Recovery has been hard but the past two days I've felt much better. Tell me your news!!! X

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/08/2020 21:56

Congrats!!!! I can't believe how similar our stories are! Mine failed too. It got removed then I started contracting a couple of hours later and pushing at 2/3cm!!!! Heart rate kept dropping and then emergency c section. It could've ended very badly but thankfully little miss is fine 😊

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/08/2020 21:57

Was he born on 7th?
