How soon did you do the above?

Two weeks - insurers didn’t care and doctor said once you’d stopped painkillers (which was about a week earlier) but I think I was very very lucky with it all - I was home Sunday night went out on the Monday Evening (Tesco shuffle didn’t pick up a thing) after the CS on Saturday morning - so I suspect how you are feeling should contribute to if you feel ok to drive.

Yeah 12 days. Felt fine. Drove to see my horses. I was absolutely ok. Insurance said I was fine. Midwife said I was fine. I was fine!

After my 1st section I drove after 11 days and then after my second section 6 days. I checked with my insurance and consultant and both were happy if I was. I felt great after both deliveries and only took a few paracetamol for pain but I do realise that’s not everyone’s experience. x

3 weeks, my then husband had just been diagnosed with MS & was unable to drive. We needed to get to hospital appointments.

HappyAsASandboy · 04/07/2020 22:06

I drove at just under two weeks after my first two sections and after about 3 weeks with my third (because I didn't need to go anywhere, I could have driven safely earlier).

At my 6 week check my GP made a point of asking if I was driving yet and that I wasn't to wait for his go ahead. GPS don't have a way to "sign you off for driving"; your insurer will expect you to make a sensible decision and get on with it yourself.

If you can jump, stamp your feet, bend comfortably etc then I would say that you're safe to drive.

I drove after 11 days. My midwife said she had no reason to say I couldn't (wound healing well, running after a toddler) and my insurance company said as long as I hadn't been told NOT to drive by a HCP it was fine with them. I did a very long, necessary journey and was fine. Everyone is different and the 6 weeks 'rule' is definitely a myth

I was driving after 2 weeks , I had an older child that was at a school 20 minutes drive away and 4 horses at 2 different yards that required my input . I didn’t find it an issue at all .

SparkyBlue · 04/07/2020 22:21

Two weeks after my first and a week after my second and third. For my second and third sections I had premature babies in the nicu and I needed to drive to the hospital daily so logistically it was impossible not to drive as either myself or DH had to stay with our other children and one of us went to the hospital. I will say however that i had amazing recoveries from my sections had I not felt physically able then I wouldn't have driven. I contacted my insurance company and there was no issues.

Nofunkingworriesmate · 04/07/2020 22:21

8 days
Felt fine
what worked for me is knowing that the gut area pain is trapped gas from opening you up and not you ripping your insides the quickest way to get rid of it is to move , walk lots of getting out of a chair sit down stand up and repeat
And the hideous bus ride to collect my eldest made me get behind wheel ASAP
But everyone is different snd has had different operation scenarios
Take medical advice

coronaornona · 04/07/2020 22:35

mrssunshinexxx · 05/07/2020 02:28

I wonder if any of the people who had insurance companies asking for a doctor to approve them to drive could maybe say who their insurance company was please? Thanks.
