Does hypnobirthing work?

Currently pregnant with number 2- had a natural birth with number 1, didn’t tear, rip or need to be cut, it didn’t last for days and I know how lucky I was, but I am petrified of the pain to give birth naturally again. The thought of it makes me cold to my core!
Does hynobirthing work? Otherwise I’m thinking fuck if Epidural me up!

@Livingthecovidaloca

I used the Marie Morgan course, for my one and only birth, and found it incredible. I do believe that breaking the fear-pain cycle makes a massive difference. I was induced, and DH sent home, I kept telling staff my contractions had started and he needed to come back. I had lots of very patronising comments of “you’ll know when they’ve started..” I do, right now! and “you wouldn’t be having this conversation if it had started” I would, because I am! In the end I forced someone to examine me, I was 7cm, then a panicked call to DH telling him to come back to hospital now now!
This exact thing happened to me, too. Calmly said, I need to push. Totally patronised. Midwife said I should go home and went on her “lunch” break (was the middle of the night). Ten minutes later waters went and 30 minutes after that baby was born. Marie Mongan technique.

I have no idea if it works or not - I did it with both of mine (Maggie Howell) but they were both straightforward and pretty quick births.
I think as long as you go into it not expecting a miracle (for me, it was about keeping calm and in control).
I found the thought of my second birth so much worse than the first even though it was fine!
Second yoga!

Yes. I got to 7cm before I went to hospital where they ignored me because I was so calm. I started pushing and they said I wasn’t because I’d just do it if I needed to. Second time around was harder because baby needed to be monitored so I was stuck on the bed but any sort of self hypnosis is brilliant, you need to practise and master it. It can help you get off to sleep at night, get through job interviews and definitely aids childbirth!
