C Section consultant appointment

I had an appointment with a consultant to discuss my request for a c section on Wednesday. I have received a message today to say it will now be a phone call. I am fine with this but wondered if anyone had had anything similar? I’m scared they won’t let me have one but I had an awful recovery last time from a forcep birth.

Not exactly the same but I am 20 weeks pregnant with my second after suffering a 3C tear with my first 5 years ago, a result of forceps and recovery was horrendous.

My consultant appointment has been booked for September when I’ll be 34 weeks but has also only been booked as a phone appointment.

Unsure whether this is likely to change the outcome of the appointment but I hope not!

I requested a c section last year after a traumatic birth 5 years ago. I'd suggest you read the NICE guidance. It gives all the reasons you can automatically get a section and the process for if you don't have any of those - including what you're entitled to. The consultant should follow NICE guidance so if they don't; call them out on it.

I had a very sympathetic consultant. I was terrified of issues surrounding my first birth happening again. I cried at him a lot. He agreed that a section was the best plan. And it was. My second birth was calm, controlled and lovely.

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and requested a Elective section after a difficult birth with my first (SD and forceps). Consultant was lovely and booked me straight in for an elective so I didn’t have to think about it for the rest of my pregnancy. They do have to list the risks etc but generally given the guidelines if you have a good reason-which you have-they are happy to give you an elective. Good luck!
