VBAC after 2 sections?

Hi all,

As the title says I am pregnant with my third. The first time the baby was breech so I had to have an elective section. Second pregnancy I wanted a VBAC but had a massive cyst on my ovary that almost ruptured and needed to be removed. So I ended up with a section and a cystectomy at the same time.

My first section was a dream. But the second was a nightmare. My baby suffered from wet lungs (a condition linked to sections) and spent 10 days in special care. I ended up with an infection and very poorly. Didn't manage to breastfeed so I ended up pumping exclusively for 6 months (never doing that again).

Now I am really reluctant to have another section but I don't want to put baby at risk either.

Does anyone have experience of a successful VBAC after 2 sections? Thanks a lot!

We're just moving this thread over to childbirth for the OP. Flowers

My third was brain-damaged in a vbac. If you do go for it, please insist on continuous foetal monitoring. Insist. And if the machine breaks down, throw an almighty tantrum until they find another one or provide alternative means of monitoring.

@Blackdoggotmytonguestill gosh. Thanks so much for sharing. I hope your little one is doing well.

I went for a Vbac after 1 natural and 2 c sections. I had to fight for it and got as much as advice as possible from a specialist in a different hospital. She was so reassuring that I decided to give both at my local hospital (where the consultant I was under was totally against a vbac, possibly the only mistake I made). Anyway I went in to labour after a stretch and sweep at 39 weeks. I laboured first around 12hrs with no problems but not much progress (4cms) then the consultant cane in shift and within half an hour I was taken through to theatre. Baby was healthy but I was disappointed that I didn’t get my vbac. I think in hindsight I should have gone transferred to the hospital further away and had specialists that were confident in the process. Still, baby was healthy and I healed well so not so bad. X

I had a VBAC2 for my fifth after two sections and one VBAC, three hour labour on due date, three hours before meeting with consultant that would have meant section

I had to switch hospital to find a supportive consultant btw

@FoxtrotSkarloey
I wasn’t monitored at all, just checked regularly. I was free to walk around and was just using gas and air.

Thank you all. I am really excited to try and my consultant suggested that it's important to have a positive mindset and go for it!

I wouldn't. Damaged baby, different circumstances. Bottom line for me is safety
