Hey everyone, just looking for reassurance really. I have PCOS so I probably get about a period a year but sometimes still get really hip/bad period-like pain, I went to the doctors last week for a check up and surprisingly they told me I was pregnant. I've had no symptoms whatsoever apart from increased hip pain in the past 4 weeks and some rib pain and I've put on about 12lbs since last year (which I assumed was down to lockdown and reduced exercise) I go for a scan 2 days later and find out I'm 30-34 weeks!
Obviously the scan has shown very little because of how large the baby is at this point, but I'm hardly showing and the midwife couldn't really see the spine, limbs, and organs and had to really guess at the gender, but she told me everything seems fine, I only go back on 19th June for another scan and to find out how my bloods went so after not knowing I was pregnant for over 7 months I'm really worried about the baby. With Covid-19 going on and it being my first I'm completely clueless! I'm just wondering if anyone has ever been in the same position and has a bit of advice or if anyone else was due last few months or this month/ next who has any advice on coping with pregnancy, birth and hospital visits during this pandemic!
Thank you!!

I've no advice I'm afraid but just wanted to say congratulations and hopefully bump your post so others will reply. It obviously does happen as I've seen posts about surprise pregnancies on Facebook groups too.
I'm sure everything will be fine but it must be nerve wracking. I'm 35 weeks now and have struggled physically through every day of pregnancy (nausea, exhaustion, pain, etc) so in a way I think you are lucky but at the same time I've had a lot of time to get my head around the idea (and it took a while despite being planned) and to get prepared so it must be a head spin for you. I hope someone with a similar experience will be along with some advice soon. Good luck x

Hi
Yeah I suppose it's just one of those things! And I went for the check up at my local sexual health clinic as they were still doing bookings to be seen but you have to wear gloves, mask, hand sanitizer, come on your own etc. And apologies but I was very very out of it when I was being told everything I basically had to see everyone in one day, I first went in for a scan and on the notes I've checked it was a sonographer not a midwife sorry, then I definitely spoke to the midwife after that as she ran through some questions with me on the computer about my medical history and my partners, they then sent me to pee in a cup and checked on my ketones and took my bloods to test for different things too. The whole thing was just a blur everything happened all at once that's why I was hoping for some advice. I think the measurements they took were FL:64.2mm, HC:299.7mm and AC:282.3mm. But on the anatomy scan it said there was 'restricted views of the spine, face, fetal heart and limbs due to fetal gestation. It must be noted that optimum time for an anomaly scan is 20 weeks gestation' then I was booked in for a growth scan in 2 weeks as they have no comparison. The reason I'm worried is just that she said everything 'seems' fine but the notes say that image quality is poor and I've only found out this late. I wouldn't be as worried if my partner had have been allowed in with me but because of covid-19 I had to go in on my own and I was just completely out of it, terrified of needles so I nearly passed out from that, never had an ultrasound before and lying on my back was causing me to become dizzy and nauseous so nothing they were saying was sticking it was an absolute whirlwind. The staff were lovely I ended up at whiston hospital, it was just I 100% wasn't in the correct mental and physical state to listen to what everyone was saying and I only go back on 19th so I was just looking for reassurance until then 😭

Hey, my mum found out she was pregnant when she was 6.5 months with me. It was the 90s, she lived in Glasgow and she was 22 (you can imagine...🤣) I was born at 40+4 weighing 7lbs and other than random minor issues that had nothing to do with her drinking etc, I’m fine haha! Please don’t worry - and congrats! I’m 34w today

Thank you! I'm hoping everything is fine, I'm only 22 myself so it's been a huge shock. My partner is 27 so it's not as bad for him he's a lot more excited than I was initially 😂just needing reassurance myself I think because I haven't known till now I just felt a bit incompetent at the minute

Hi OP our situations sounds awfully similar. I found out I was pregnant at around 35 weeks. I went to the GP with what I thought was IBS and then they managed to wrangle me an emergency scan that same day. I went into labour two days later and had DD three days after I found out. They think the stress and shock induced me. I was also around your age, in my third year of university. DD is three now and the best thing that ever happened to me. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

It's crazy isn't it! Everyone keeps asking how I didn't know but I just had no symptoms whatsoever and I've only put on around 13lbs in the 7 months which I assumed was due to lockdown as I struggle with weight gain/loss anyway! Felt nothing until around 30 weeks when I started getting really bad pain in hips/ovaries area and I assumed it was my PCOS playing up but low and behold it wasn't Shock
