6 weeks PP and still bleeding bright red blood.

Hi all,

I had a c section nearly 6 weeks ago and before leaving the hospital I had the contraceptive injection. As the title says I am still bleeding bright red blood and using pads, it's not too heavy and I could if I wanted to, use the same pad all day (I don't obviously). Sometimes I get a gush and (TMI) I can feel it coming out. Other times it's just when I wipe.

Do I need to worry? Who (if anyone) do I get in touch with? Is it worth speaking to the GP or just waiting it out? I am wondering if it's because of the Depo this is happening (although when I had it before it stopped my periods and I had no breakthrough bleeding).

Thanks a lot :)

Also just to add I'm a FTM so really unsure what's normal!

I had this with my second section. Turned out I had an internal infection (as in, you couldn't see anything wrong with my scar) and needed antibiotics.

Nothing too serious but I am glad I called my GP.

I too had this and had an infection, turns out there was stuff left inside me and I had to have it removed. Speak to gp and request an ultrasound ASAP.

Exactly me! I didn’t mention it until casually at a coffee with a friend

24 hours later I was having a scan

Huge retained placenta. You must seek medical care

Thank you for the advice. I'm just calling my GP now.

I had a baby 13 months ago and had the injection for the first time 11 weeks ago. I've bled pretty much for the past 4 months. Doctor says it's my body reacting to the Depo hormones and it should settle down after the next injection.

I hope this is the same for you and nothing more serious. But please speak to your doctor as soon as you can to make sure Biscuit
