Vbac or elective c second time around ??

Struggling with the decision this time around. Consultant has said will support me either way but won’t give me a recommendation other than a leaflet on Vbac.
First time around I was all up for a vaginal delivery but ended in emergency c - wasn’t especially dramatic but very long with a failure to progress, waters didn’t break naturally, hormone drip etc. Did take a long time for me to recover from the section but I’ve always wondered whether that was partly because it came after 48 hours of labour and no sleep.
I’m 34 and no plans for a huge family if that’s relevant although I wouldn’t want to totally rule out a third (though my DH would!)
Any thoughts / recommendations from others ??

Ds1 was emcs. I wanted a VBAC with DS2 but had a complication and ended up with an emcs. Ds3 was always going to be a planned section, but was born prematurely by emcs. My best recovery was probably ds1, long labour but I was young and didn’t have other kids to look after. Then ds3 whom had a SCBU stay, so I was very well rested and looked after. DH was out of work as well, so plenty of help when I came home. I was poorly after ds2 for a myriad of reasons, only a few of them birth related. I think it’s really hard to predict.

I don’t regret opting to try for a vbac with ds2 but I held the preference lightly in my head and in my birth plan. You could opt to labour for x amount of time and see how it goes? Ask what happens if you change your mind during active labour and ask for c/s.

Good luck! Flowers

I have decided to go for a c-section as it’s generally the less riskier option (although may have a v small slightly higher risk for future pregnancies, although I’m sure many people go on to have 3 or more children if they choose to).
Really up to the individual... apart from overall lower risk, the other reason I chose it is because a lot of natural births (albeit based on my friends/people I know) seem to end up with emergency c-sections anyway. A planned c section is supposedly less risky than a emergency one

Think that’s the way I’m veering too! Thanks
