I've decided that I want to get this started as I have a consultant's appointment next week and know that this will be on the agenda - anyone know of any good templates or have any good tips? thanks

oh Klaw - ouch!

Thanks Fihi, not reading up just wouldn't suit me, it's all about understanding for me not demanding this that or the other - I don't really have wishes as such just things I'd rather not happen unless they have to.

I did a very detailed birth plan with ds1, all revolving around having him as naturally and actively as possible - of course all couched in 'if possible' and 'ideally' terms - and ended up with a long, slow, completely medicalised induction and forceps delivery. It was worth it though as one of the funny moments of labour was going through it with the midwife (once the epidural was in and I could talk again!) and realising every single thing I'd said I didn't want, I'd ended up having!! It was fine though, didn't upset me - me and ds were both OK and that was all that mattered. And it was good to have thought things through beforehand and to know what it was I was agreeing to at the time. I think especially for a first baby it's part of the process - it doesn't mean you'll stick to it, but it's part of the whole lovely planning of it all.
