Induction on Monday if no joy before then

40+6 today and very little sign of anything at all happening. Hospital this morning, thorough scan etc., baby doing very well but they don't want me to go further than 40+10. I thought anything would happen other than having to be induced have been anticipating this baby since, oh, about 36 weeks and the idea of Giving Birth is getting very surreal. It's been such a long haul of a pregnancy (all placenta problems happily resolved) and I'm not coping very well at all with the anxiety (that's another thread, though).

Any spare labour vibes in this direction please

update for anyone interested :

Yesterday evening was contracting every 5-7 mins, fairly painfully (enough to have to take a deep breath), but not for all that long - after searching under 'contractions' on here and reading a thread where someone wrote 'you won't sleep through labour' decided to try and get some rest - and didn't wake up properly again until 5.30am Am now getting last-minute hospital bag things ready, pottering, contracting every 10 mins or so. Have routine CTG at hospital at 10am. No idea whether it's going to be this weekend or not, but feel a lot better because something is definitely happening

Floss, how are things?

Watching the sun, such as it is, come up over Berlin. God, I'm emotional. (Can only be a good sign, right?) saying goodbye to our very lovely life as 3, wondering how well our still-so-little ds will deal with the transition to 4 (let alone how I'll deal with it). We've been so lucky with ds, health-wise, temperament- and behaviour-wise, OK, he wasn't a good sleeper for a long time etc. etc. and he is an absolute (exhausting) livewire, but he is really very 'easy' in most sorts of ways (although I really dislike describing children as 'easy' or 'difficult'), what if dc2 is more of a challenge, in ways I'm not used to, will I cope? How will I do justice to both of them? Feeling very inadequate. Walking off a fairly painful contraction.

Oh, and my parents sent me an email saying they're waiting for news. Those of you who are aware of the history with my parents will know what that means.

Oh, Berolina, contractions even if not that strong/ infrequent are all good signs. I have my fingers crossed for you. Completely know how you man about being emotional, I cried at a little baby monsoon dress a couple of days ago. Cried at someone pushing their newborn along. Then cried when DS wouldn't do as he was told. Felt really tearful about prospect of induction all day yesterday.

Nothing happening here at all. Am just going to spend the weekend preparing for things hopefully going ahead on Monday and put any thoughts of labour out of my mind - my cervix yesterday was really no more favourable than it was on Weds. So am quite convinced now nothing is happening!

I hope things happen for you today! Or if not you manage to get plenty of rest, as one way or another you'll be going through labour very soon! xxx

Berolina has gone quiet... [fingers crossed emoticon]
