PROM inductions

Hi all,

Probably a little niche so apologies but i wanted to hear others experiences of inductions and the methods used to induce when your waters have gone and you’re experiencing no contractions after 24 hours. I had this with my first and was given no induction method choice, it was drip or nothing.

Really keen to understand if this is standard throughout the UK or my trust specifically, as I’m pregnant with my second and desperate to avoid a similar birth experience.

Thanks!

I went in with ruptured membranes 24+ hours but was 40+5. Early labour contractions over 39 hours but no rhythm, had gotten to 3 minutes apart but every time I moved they dropped off. I was told drip as they wanted baby out quickly (I assume no time to waste trying other methods and pessary etc when membranes ruptured could possibly increase infection risk?) but we then found out baby was breech so I escaped with a C-section 🤣 (I really didn't want the hormone drip) x

Thanks @firsttimebumps - can totally understand wanting a C section, I begged for one and they basically ignored me Hmm maybe if it does happen again I need to wait longer and try and get contractions going.

My waters broke at 38+4 and my co reactions didnt start so I went in 24 hours later and was given a pessary. This was about 2am and at around 11 it fell out when I when to the toilet. They said I didnt need another one as my cervix had started softening but nothing happened still so I had to have the drip. It was awful, so painful. Would definatly have an epidural if it were to happen next time

Hi @Charlottejade89 - thanks for responding - sorry to hear you had a similar experience. Agree with you on the epidural, total necessity for early indications it seems whereas late inductions it seems to vary!
