C section body

Didn't have a clue what category to put it in so if someone could change it to the right one if this isn't I would very much appreciate it.
Wanting to speak to c section mums to ask if you ever got your body back? 3rd baby and first c section and it was an awful experience and I still feel pretty rubbish about it 4 weeks later. However on top of that I'm now left with this body that I don't know if it's ever going to get back normal. I hate my scar so much it smells and my belly now hangs over it. I never had this with my first two so I'm thinking it's the scar and I've also seen it never really goes. The scars not infected I've already had antibiotics and it swapped and it's got no infection but still will get smelly and even after washing isn't that great. I feel traumatised my the c section as it is and now whenever I look in the mirror I just see this horrid belly that's I just know im going to feel ashamed of going on holidays and being in a bikini not to mention being intimate with my oh again. He's 27 also and I just feel like now he's stuck with this and going to he looking at others with good body's wishing mine was like that again. I know this is all very negative feelings and I'm trying to be positive it all just keeps coming into my thoughts though and making me feel down. Any c sections mum's out there have experience of this and did you feel good about yourself in the end ? And will this flap thing ever go ?!

Sorry about the tp half, I pressed a button and thought my text had disappeared so started again!

Abbie03 · 18/05/2020 12:52

Hey @Mschatterbox that's reassuring I honestly don't think I will mind if I get just a bit of a belly at the bottom like you and get down to a size 10. I have looked at the support bands and ordered one and it doesn't even go around me. It's was cheap though so maybe need to look at a better brand.

That's the one I got last time I lived in it! And yeah I think size 10 is when I was comfortable in a bikini... You will get there!

Abbie03 · 18/05/2020 20:45

Hey that's the one I got @Mschatterbox but it doesn't go around right as I'm too scared and not sure how tight it should be. Maybe I need to loose a bit more tummy fat first

Thank you though. Defo feel more positive that I will get there eventually.

I've had two C-sections . I don't mind the scar and never have however 2 years later I still have a pouch. I have gone calorie deficit and my stomach and pouch went down a little. I am a size 8 in most shops but stomach is still flabby. Unluckily for me I have always put weight on my tummy area pre children and have never had a flat tummy.

sauvignonblancplz · 18/05/2020 21:02

There’s a cream called dermatrix it’s excellent for healing scar tissue.
As for the belly and overhang, I’ve had 3, I am relatively fit and healthy. It definitely took a bit longer this time but my stomach is flat with no over hang.
If I could out my thighs and arse I’d be happy.

overtly · 18/05/2020 21:05

I didn't have an overhang but have had 3DC. I shrunk down pretty much immediately after birth but had what I guess was bloating and definitely took longer than 4 weeks to go down for DC3. I'm 6 months post birth now and size 8 but definitely still have a little fluffy bloated look. Do you sleep on your stomach? I did, had to use pillows to support the breast feeding boobs but I'm sure it helped push everything back in place.

Abbie03 · 18/05/2020 22:37

Battysace123 that sounds pretty good i would love it if I could get down to a size 8 again but would defo be happy with a 10

@Overtly so amazing that you are an 8 after 3 kids. I did pretty good with my other two and my belly went down pretty well. I got so big with my 3rd especially at the end with the PE and she was 10 pound 11 so my bump was huge

I do sleep on my stomach when I can get a chance so hopefully that helps

I had an EMCS and an ELCS with twins aged 36 and 39. Five or six months from the second section all was reasonably good again with no particular diet or exercise beyond trying to remember to sit straight and use whatever muscles I had left! The scar is now very faint and no longer numb. Remember it's not just fat that's creating the belly, it's stretched out muscle and linea alba tendon. It takes time.

Fuppy · 18/05/2020 23:01

@Abbie03 I've had 2 sections and I don't think I can add anything that PP haven't mentioned but I did notice you said you were using a pad against your scar...I was advised against this by Dr as it'll stop the air flow. I know it's really difficult to find the time with breastfeeding but the best thing you can do is wear loose fitting cotton knickers & clothing and then air out the scar a few times a day for 5-10 mins, but apparently not in front of a fan because of blowing bacteria/bugs etc into it Confused

Sounds like you're having a difficult time at the moment, I hope you have support? It's really difficult in the first couple of months, harder given current circumstances I imagine!

Congratulations by the way Thanks

Abbie03 · 19/05/2020 09:37

@fuppy hey thanks for your response. I do agree I should ditch the pad now I think it just makes me feel better knowing it's there for extra padding. My partners amazing and is very supportive and because of the current situation I'm lucky really as he's been able to stay home with me as he's not working so I've got enough support thank you for asking.

@Vilainousbroodmare sounds like you had your c sections really close together ? And yea I thought maybe I'm still a bit swollen and it might not be fat. My tummy stood up isn't too bad it's when I sit down it's horrid and all flubby. Hoping it tightens up eventually. I think I'm just not being very realistic with my expectations right now so trying to be more positive with my thoughts when I look in the mirror. Thank you for your input it really helps to get reassurance from others.
